Alesha’s Dad asked about discovery Alesha was missing. Grandparents came into room to see if Alesha was in with him & partner. They looked about house and went out & looked. “I put my shoes on and went straight out”

Alesha’s Dad says he and partner headed into town, to the ferry terminal & taxi rank. His mother had put a post on Facebook asking people to help look. Said he was walking back to his Mum’s and saw an ambulance going past

Alesha’s Dad told Court he ended up going to where ambulance was - his Mum and Dad were there and partner. Police wouldn’t tell them anything and were guided towards the police station

The accused messaged Alesha’s father in the early hours of the day she was found dead, the court heard.

Mr MacPhail was asked if he was aware of such messages.

He told the court the messages were asking for cannabis.

I would expect ( hope ) it has already been checked out - alibis etc - but the Prosecution will surely have to address the matter in court, being as the accused has provided this statement as his defence.

Alesha 'went to party day before death'
Alesha’s dad Robert MacPhail broke up with his daughter’s mum Georgia when Alesha was three months old.

He tells the court he lived with his parents, Alesha’s grandparents, in Rothesay and his daughter would visit him at their address.

Mr MacPhail tells the jury Alesha was going to enjoy a good summer holiday on the island. She was taken to a party in Airdrie the day before she died before returning to Bute.

In the early hours of the day she died, Mr MacPhail describes hearing Alesha get out of bed and walk into the living room.

He describes putting her back to bed and telling her he would see her in the morning, the court heard.

Mr MacPhail says this is the last time he saw his daughter.

Alesha's dad and accused 'fell out over money'

Mr MacPhail says he would meet the accused to sell him drugs, often in the shelter across from Alesha’s grandparents’ house.

He says the accused never entered his flat. He says he might have stood at the door to the flat but never came in.

Under cross-examination, Alesha’s dad is asked if his drug dealing took place at door of his house with the accused.

He answers: “I couldn’t tell you, it could have, I’m not entirely sure.”

Brian McConnachie QC says: “You fell out over money didn’t you?”

Mr MacPhail said there was a key in the door to his flat on the night Alesha vanished.

The following morning, he says his parents came into his room to see if Alesha was in there.

He told the court he visited the ferry terminal and taxi rank before walking back to his mum’s house.

On the way back to the house he says an ambulance drove past him.
