Accused’s mum phoned the police to tell them she had CCTV footage of her son being “out and about” that night. It was to “eliminate him from the enquiries” she says.

Yep.

And just going on his Mum’s claim that he was ‘very drunk’. Doesn’t seem like the usual prep for sneaking into a house unheard.

Hmm ok, this is interesting

I’m not buying it was to eliminate him atall, whatsoever. She had her suspicions and tbh good on her for handing this over. Said herself she was ‘puzzled’. I wonder if she was somewhat scared of her son, hes likely to be strong physically what with all his ‘parkour’ (never heard of this hobby until today) and if she’s the only parent in the house...

That's why it took her till 3a.m after a few drinks eh ... not to rule him out but because she knows him and what he just might be capable in her wildest nightmares.

Accused's mum confronted him about leaving the house

The accused’s mother confronted him about leaving the house in the middle of the night.

She said: “You went out again last night”.

Accused replied “I dunno. Must have been looking for my phone”.

Mother later asked the accused again whether he knew anything about the little girl.

The accused’s mother said she was “puzzled” and that he was “vague and probably hungover”.

Alesha MacPhail's body had 117 injuries - but her bare feet were unmarked

Thank you. I didn't realize that! I won't do that. But I would like to ask if someone can explain how to fix my profile to message people. I know I've messaged people in the past so I'm not sure why it's not enabled on my profile now. Maybe it changed when the site changed?

Accused's mother then phoned the police

The accused’s mother said she decided to phone the police about the CCTV after speaking to a friend.

She told her friend her son had been out of the house when Alesha disappeared.

She told the police about the CCTV because she thought it would ‘eliminate him from their enquiries’.

The court is then shown footage from the CCTV.

The accused’s mother says she assumes it is of him leaving for the first time that evening, at 1.54am.

He was wearing jogging bottoms, trainers and hooded top.

3.35am footage shows a person arriving back at house. She assumes it is accused. He jumps over wall and enters rear of house. Not wearing hoody anymore. CCTV shows bathroom light coming on. Footage shows accused leaving property again wearing shorts only.

I think I'd need lots to drink as well if I was going to tell the police I had CCTV footage of my son out during the night a little girl went missing. Surely must be hard for her but she's done the right thing

Accused’s mother says next morning she went out looking for Alesha, having learned she was missing. Came across Alesha’s Dad and his girlfriend Toni. Says she gave Toni a cuddle and said she was everything was going to be fine

Accused’s mother said she checked house cctv - she was looking to see if there was a little girl wandering past her area

Accused’s mother said on the cctv she saw her son come back into the house around about 3 O’clock in the morning

Accused’s mother says she was surprised to see him out of the property. Went further back on the cctv and saw him leave the house

Accused’s mother says he came back to the house, had a shower, left all his clothes “at his backside” and left the house again. At that point he was in only shorts. Looked as if he was carrying a T-shirt, jumped over the wall and disappeared for 7 mins. Didn’t have shoes on

Accused’s mother says she wondered why he’d been out. She asked him in the afternoon after she’d seen the cctv. Says his reaction was ‘I don’t know I think I might have been looking for my phone’

Accused’s mother told court she waited for her friend to come home from work. Friend said you’d better call police and then the mother did. Said they were trying to explain to accused son whoever did this would have left DNA. Said son didn’t understand what DNA was

Cctv then later in court shows accused leaving house at 1.54 am in black trousers, jogging bottoms and black fleece. Then 3.35am walking towards property, jumps over wall and enters. Mother asked in court if anything different about clothing, she says not got dark fleece on

Cctv at 3.44 on same morning, 2 July 2018, shows light come on in bathroom. At 3.45am person, who mother agrees is the accused, is seen leaving only wearing shorts

Is "at his backside" a slang phrase?
