Det Chief Insp Jes Fry says that initial tests have not revealed the presence of any common drugs in Alisa’s body, which lay hidden for months in an isolated copse on the Royal Sandringham estate.
He has spoken after national press reports claimed Alisa was a “drug addicted wild child” who owed £15,000.
Det Chief Insp Fry said that further tests are being carried out and is asking people not to lose sight that a teenager had been murdered.
Alisa was found on New Year’s Day by a dog walker in the woodland off King’s Avenue, which runs between Sandringham and Anmer, four months after she disappeared.
Det Chief Insp Fry said: “Initial toxicology results do not indicate the presence of any common drugs of abuse in the body of Alisa Dmitrijeva. Further testing will be carried out.
“I am keen that the suggestion that Alisa was involved in taking controlled drugs should not colour the willingness of people to engage with my staff.
“Enquiries are continuing to build up the victimology in relation to Alisa, and I would ask that people do not lose sight of the fact that a young girl has lost her life.
“Her family are devastated and I would encourage anyone with information to contact us, even anonymously.”
