His interests were pretty mainstream for the rock world. There really weren’t any gigs happening in London that night for bands he liked. None that he would’ve been willing to put his family through hell for, I wouldn’t think.

Exactly. I don't think it's likely he went to a gig. Brighton is a maybe, but that begs the question why? No pride events were going on. The fact that he might be gay is only a speculation and there's more evidence to point that he didn't have interest in romance. Maybe he wanted to see the beach, but there are beaches closer to Doncaster like in Hull. Why Brighton Beach?

Not entirely true. In one interview his father said he had mentioned liking a girl at school. Anyway he was only 14. A lot of people don't start really dating until they're out of high school. Though IMO it's very possible he went to meet someone pretending to be a teenager. MOO.

Maybe, but then why go a holiday (the idea that he didn't plan to return before them) on his own and not tell his parents? Just all seems odd. He wouldn't have made it home before his parents or sister if he went to Brighton.

But history father always took him to any and all gigs he wanted to see. He also didn't have ID on him. Why would he go to this one gig behind his parents back and without ID? You need ID to enter most gig venues.

Well... are there people who were young UK teens then, had kinda similar interests to Andrew and could offer their insight as to why THEY would do such a thing?

Maybe he didnt. Impossible to rule out that in his mind he would be able to either call home with explanation or came back before they will realize he skipped school.
