Just thoughts.

Every description of Andrew Gosden is too perfect. Gifted kid, reading at 3, 100% school attendance, gifted program at school, no trouble at home, never upset, likes to turn water into wine on his weekends.

If you asked my parents about me they would say I was a good son, no major issues, loved his family, did his best at school he could.

If you asked me about my parents I would say they were never around, never came to any of my sports days, never really cared if I studied or not, completely missed me being socially challenged, seemed to think they could just spend money on my needs and that qualified as good parenting.

So point being while the Gosden's might see Andrew one way, Andrew may have seen them another. All this high achieving may be because they gave him no other avenues other than to be a kid who liked to stay home etc.

EDIT :

I mean, a whole genre of movies have been created on teens with parents who don't understand their issues. I doubt the Gosden's know their 14yo inside out.

I was reading about Simon Lembi the other day and it reminded me kids that young could survive on their own if they wanted to. Simon was 14, had only been in Belgium for a handful of days, and spoke little of the language (if at all). Yet he walked away and made a new life, a new identity for himself. He was found 20 years later and asked not to be disturbed - he claimed abuse in his childhood and wanted no contact with his family and didn't want his new name to be known. It's possible, it can happen. This gave me some hope because I immediately thought of Andrew. Maybe he's out there somewhere still living life.

An appeal to find Andrew Gosden has been 'live' this morning on Crimewatch in the UK on BBC. I hope its available on iplayer when the programme ends.

His Dad said. "There's just mental torchure, because nothing to any of us seemed remotely amiss. There was no clue, no sign, he didn't look upset about anything. He just seemed normal absolutely everyday self. "

The voice over woman said 'Andrew lived with his sister and mum and dad together in Bullgate, Doncaster, South Yorkshire and was a strong willed 14 year old. '

Andrew's Dad said "Andrew had what I call the Gosden stubborn streak. Like if he had something he wanted to do, and you kind of went 'i'm not sure about that' he'd just shrug and go off and do it anyway. Andrew was one of these actually really clever people who just wouldn't even have to work at it, it would just be in his head. You know, he really was very, very academically gifted. He certainly liked his rock metal music. He was bright, polite, funny, very witted, a little bit mad professor-ish, you know he was just a nice kid. I hope he knew or knows how proud we both were of him. "

They then discussed what he did that day and describe that he would be 26 now and his birthday is 10th July.

They reminded us he has a unique double ridge on one ear, is deaf in the other ear and needs strong prescription for his eyes (either lenses or glasses). They urged anyone to get in contact if they thought someone fitted this description and possibly had an incomplete back story.

They then appealed if anyone has any information please call 08000 468999 and its free from landlines and mobiles in the UK. Or text them on 63399. They also linked to the charity Missing People, which I guess if Andrew was reading this, he could contact anonymously. Also email [email protected]

I will link the iplayer of this broadcast when it comes up. I think iplayer posts one hour after broadcasts have finished and its still broadcasting right now.

Dad of missing teen speaks out as fresh appeal launched on TV
''Detective Chief Inspector Andy Knowles for South Yorkshire Police spoke live to Michelle Ackerley and revealed that the force is still desperate to piece together the circumstances behind Andrew’s disappearance.

He said: “We have made a number of enquiries with Andy’s family who have been very open with us. We don’t think there were any issues at home and likewise we have spoken to his school and friends and nobody has suggested any reason that might have driven Andy to leave like this.

“Twelve years have passed by and we don’t know how his appearance has changed over time.''

''Speaking directly to Andrew, DCI Knowles said: “To Andrew, or anyone who knows him, I would just ask them to come forward and give that information and finally put an end to his family’s wait for news about him.”

For more information on Andrew’s disappearance, visit the Missing People website here .''

I go back and forth so much on this.

Without any obvious problems, it seems bizarre that Andrew would walk away from his life forever.

Equally, if he did meet someone/people and came to harm, how has this not come to light yet?

We've talked a lot about how Andrew didn't have an online presence: I wonder, did he write down his thoughts and feelings anywhere? Even where it may have been in 'code', like poetry or song lyrics? Did he write to anyone?

Although, I have to say, definitively NOT having much online presence in 2007 is peculiar. All those chat rooms that used to exist, and the messenger things. MSN messenger was really popular in the UK. But I think any computers he accessed were forensically searched?

I think the fact he was so laid back and just did whatever he wanted even if his parents said it wasn't a good idea, say lots. I think it highly probable he is living a new life. If he is reading this, all he needs to do is to send a message to his parents via Missing People charity to let them know nothing bad happened to him if he still wants to stay anonymous.

I was also wondering....his distinctive ear with the double ridge. Surely Barbers and hairdressers would have seen this over the years?

Good point, one would expect many people to notice his unusual ear, but wondering if it is possible considering so many consider it fashionable, that Andrew had that part of his ear pierced and somewhat hidden by earrings? Could he be wearing a small ear piece (prosthetic) atop his ear?
Just writing that now brings me back to speculating about the slim possibility that AG might now identify as female.
speculation, imo.

Who else was at this Excellemce Hub, that is what l would be looking at. It's possible he was groomed there. He may have met someone on the way home, which may be why he chose to walk. However intelligent he was, l suspect he was naive and vulnerable.

Mrs Marple or anyone else reading this...just watching this video on YT and 9:38 minutes into it, it describes a known police inspector (and police corruption) allegedly ordering people (in prostitution) to go the main train stations and find runaways to lure into prostitution. Which station did Andrew arrive at? I can't remember. They list some of the stations here. Though I've no idea what period they are talking about here. Could this be why there is no footage of him after arriving at the station? This is truly shocking. They do mention a 14 year old boy who died age 17 but I've no idea who they are alluding to. Heads up @dotr and @HayLouise JMO MOO

Wondering if Andrew was self-conscious about his one irregular ear, had there ever been talk about having it "fixed," is it something that could have been done after he went missing?

MISSING PEOPLE: Five men in Sheffield and South Yorkshire police are urgently searching for
''One of the longest running missing person enquiries involves the disappearance of Doncaster teenager Andrew Gosden.

Andrew went missing in 2007 when he was 14 years old and boarded a train to London.

There have been no positive sightings since.

Andrew has an unusual and distinctive right ear. He is deaf in his left ear and struggles to locate the direction of sounds.

He used to speak quickly and quietly, without a strong accent, which is unlikely to have changed. He is highly intelligent.

Anyone with any information on the whereabouts of any of the missing men should call South Yorkshire Police on 101.''

I think if he paid straight cash to a less than honorable plastic surgeon he could have. They are out there. Dangerous because....well there is a
Laundry list of reasons. However I am not sure if such an operation or procedure exists that could disguise or remedy this. Personally I think it is rather cute on him.
