Detectives concerned for the welfare of an East Dorset woman are appealing for information from the public to help find her.

Dorset Police received a report at 3.13pm yesterday, Friday, August 27, that Angela Coombs, a vulnerable 73-year-old woman, had left an address in Bingham Road in Verwood with a man aged in his 60s who was known to her.

They drove off in an orange or brown-coloured Ford Fiesta with the registration HJ13 FLH, which is believed to have subsequently travelled east on the A31 toward Hampshire.

Detective Chief Inspector Emma Sweetzer, of Dorset Police, said: "Angela is a vulnerable woman who was reportedly taken away by the man without the proper consent and should be receiving care at her nursing home accommodation.

"We are extremely concerned for her welfare and are keen to find her and the man she is with as soon as possible so we can make sure Angela is all right.

She added: "We are carrying out a number of enquiries and I would urge anyone who has information as to Angela’s whereabouts, or who comes across the vehicle detailed above, to please contact us as soon as possible.

"I would also urge the man who is with Angela to do the right thing and return her to her accommodation so she can receive the care she needs.”

POLICE have launched a public appeal to locate a vulnerable 73-year-old woman who has gone missing.

Detectives concerned for the welfare of an East Dorset woman Angela Coombs are appealing for information from the public to help find her.

Dorset Police received a report at 3.13pm on Friday, August 27, that Ms Coombs had left an address in Bingham Road in Verwood with a man aged in his 60s who was known to her.

Update – East Dorset woman located

Detectives investigating reports of concern for the welfare of an East Dorset woman are pleased to confirm she has been located.

Dorset Police received a report at 3.13pm on Friday 27 August 2021 that Angela Coombs, a vulnerable 73-year-old woman, had left an address in Bingham Road in Verwood with a man aged in his 60s who was known to her. It was alleged she had been taken away without the proper consent.

Following enquiries and searches by officers, with assistance from colleagues at Hampshire Constabulary, Angela has now been found safe.

A 66-year-old Verwood man has been arrested on suspicion of kidnap and is assisting detectives with their enquiries.
