UK - Anita Rose, 57, walking her dog, police investigating suspected murder, Brantham, Suffolk, 24th July 2024'

Looks like the same stretch of road. Wonder which was first? On one he has the hat on and a bag , on the other no bag, possibly something up his jumper, hat or something else in his hand and trousers tucked into socks.

These are 2 different days IMO.
It seems to me he is wearing different shoes.

Yes good one grouse. Is it the same day just further along or different days frequenting the same stretch.

The image is grainy but it looks almost like he has a plastic bag over one shoe possibly ?

I thought that initially, but is it just blurred due to movement? (left foot in one pic and right in another?)

IMO

Pic 1
Shoes seem to be either grey or black.
Soles seem to be white and black, there are black points at the front.
Also, white features/patterns on shoes.

Pic 2
Shoes seem to be navy.
Soles white, front soles white (no black points).
No patterns on shoes.
Just solid dark navy colour.

This is what I see.

I'm not sure if my English is good enough to describe adequately what I see though.

I agree Dotta

I believe this man when they looked back through CCTV was seen in this area on footage days.. weeks .. even months before the attack but after the attack not seen at all.

I believe they gave the public one image with his hat on.. one with hat off for maximum chance of finding him

You may be right but it was reported - "Officers are also trying to trace a potential witness, a man 'seen walking past the same CCTV camera as Anita 16 minutes later'." (BBM)

Yes.
And in the photo without a hat,
he is holding a WHITE hat in his hand IMO.

In the other picture,
he is wearing a BLUE hat.

I agree about the patterns on the front of the shoes.

Might not be a white hat, might be something else?

I think what is clear is that the reporting on this has been bizarre to say the least. I wonder if LE had actually identified and were monitoring RB and just hoping to draw witnesses to strengthen a case before making the arrest.

They pounced on him suddenly!
Even with a chopper
And dogs.

So it might mean they got info all of a sudden about his whereabouts.

Would someone kindly explain what this means?
I am quoting it from an ITV News article, which I’ve linked below:

Suffolk Police said it had also referred itself to the police watchdog, the Independent Office for Police Conduct, over previous contact with Barclay.

I think usually it means they fell short in their own standards, connected with police knowledge about the suspect/offender.

I don't think it necessarily means Anita's previous contact with Barclay, but it is a vague statement, I think it is likely to refer to their own dealings with him. He would have been in their system, he had history for this same type of attack, and it looks like they should've already had him off the streets but he was still at large.

IMO they hadn't identified him when they were putting out the CCTV appeals. Maybe the Crimewatch show generated a lead as to who he was and they had an 'oh sh**' moment, but if that is the case I think they should've put out an immediate appeal for sightings of him with warnings about his danger.

Holywells park in Ipswich has been suddenly closed with no reason given.

"Northumbria Police referred itself to the Independent Office For Police Conduct (IOPC), something which is standard practice when someone dies or is seriously injured following police contact." (BBM)

So not that surprising in this case given they have been, without any warnings of the potential danger, appealing to the public to look out for a POI that should have been on their radar, or maybe even was as in "previous contact".

I think it’s more that they identified RB but had no idea where he was.

They would’ve done lots of investigative work on his where abouts and as soon as they knew them they swooped in for the arrest earlier this week.
