Slightly OT/not really relevant right now, regarding voluntarily missing. It was said if LE found him and he didn't want family to know his whereabouts they would not disclose it. But he is a father of four, surely he would still be ordered to pay child support?
He would be liable but he has to be found first and the Police cannot give that location information to his fiancée/wife without his permission as it can be considered breaking confidentiality/GDPR/ECHR Laws

I'm going round and round in circles with this case. The chat the last day or so has persuaded me he is not in the water. Statistically the biggest killer of men his age, we know is suicide. Someone mentioned way back beachy head? Another little niggle I have is, have his 'friends' he was with been ruled out as being involved? We see AKs last sightings on cctv, but do we see all the party carrying on their pub crawl and all travelling home? The group all being very quiet - what could be the reasons for that?

Lucy said previously that the friends from that night have been helping. But none remember much

the photos on campaign poster are from that very night. Lucy said they were posted with their permission

still does feel a bit strange we haven’t heard more from these men though.

As this case comes to a bit of a standstill here’s my thoughts on it.
Anthony left the pub for a reason, either he had words with someone he was with or had words with the Mrs.
There’s a reason his phone went off when it did & I don’t think it was to save battery life.
I don’t think he has came to harm at the hands of anyone else, I think he has either had an accident of some sort or has done something to himself. I had originally thought the water but I’m assuming a body would have appeared by this point now that flooding has subsided. This could still be a possibility but is unusual for a body not to wash in by this point.
I do not think he is alive at all, Lucy has stated that he only had £120 cash on him which wouldn’t last long for the length of time they were out drinking and he hasn’t used his bank card or his phone since. The question is, where is he?
I don’t buy the fact that the others there that night have said they were too intoxicated to remember anything, I do believe they know why he left and I doubt we’ll ever know but I do think the reasons would shed some light on Anthony’s state of mind at the time of the last sighting. Unfortunately, until the people closest to him start being completely open and honest, there’s not much the average armchair sleuther can do except speculate, which is a shame, it only takes a quick google to see how many cases websleuth members have actually helped solve.
Funnily enough, I have joked over time with friends that if I ever go missing to make an account on here and let you guys know every single last detail about me, let’s hope they never have to.

I'm not sure what people expect from his friends, to be honest. I'm sure they have told the police what they know, I don't think it would change anything for the public to know every personal detail.

Catching up, enjoying the many thought provoking and interesting posts today.

I find it odd that his mates were all apparently so hammered that not one of them could remember anything about him leaving, or why. I don't say this to cast shade on them as they must be having a dreadful time of it. More to suggest it isn't quite the case, but it's what has been put out in the public domain for some reason (by other parties). Pure speculation on my part.

I also think there is something pertinent which is not being disclosed. Possibly the police/family felt that the detail given to the public at the outset was enough to enable assistance with the search...and now it may be considered too late or too damaging to bring this additional information into the public domain.

All MOO

Newbie here, but live fairly local to Lewes and have been reading all your posts with interest.

Not that I am saying I necessarily think it is the reason he has left, but Lucy has made a comment on Facebook that he smoked a lot when he was drunk and she is of the opinion that he would have had to buy some more at some point.

If he did go out to get some more, I would expect at least his smoker friend would know, because he'd offer to pick him some up. I would also expect him to grab them between pubs and not head out specifically, but, say he did - Lewes is somewhere I could easily get lost, especially in the dark, and I've been there a number of times.

One more thing which has surprised me, having just looked at the map, I incorrectly assumed that the Lamb and the Elly were nearer the main high street than they are. Assuming he had been near the high street, I'd assumed it would have been easy to access the river near the brewery but now I'm not sure it makes as much sense as I thought, and I'm not so convinced you wouldn't realise where you were anyway, even in the dark and when drunk. But I don't know, until I read all of your comments I'd assumed that him going into the water was inevitable, but all of your info is so thought provoking.

I am still so baffled. If he got to the war memorial surely cctv would have picked him up. There are cctv cameras at the bottom of School High, and I presume up the high street. Totally strange. I also assume the police know a lot more than they are making public (rightly of course)

I may have missed a load of information, but it would be really useful to know a bit more about his character. We all know people that walk off on a night out and end up tagging on to some other group on a complete bender, and then there are others who would NEVER leave a group. Some sort of indication as to what he is usually like would potentially give more clout to, or indeed take away from, proposed theories.

I can't help but think he MUST be on CCTV somewhere, regardless of where he went around Lewes from where he was, but so many people don't record or auto re-write perhaps it just isn't accessible? It doesn't seem right in this day and age he could have disappeared SO early on such a busy night of the year. That's the bit that doesn't add up to me - even CCTV footage which showed the streets of Lewes at gone midnight still showed a decent number of people around on foot.

If you revert back to potentially drowning (let's hope that's not the case), there was a man pulled from the Ouse on the 3rd January (not AK) near Tesco Express, but I can't see any detail about when he was reported missing - thought that might give some more insight into timelines of any person in the water being found. I know it all depends on the time of year/tide/weather conditions etc but if he has met his end due to the river, I suspect it could still be days or weeks until he is discovered and the poor family have any answers.

way back at the beginning when Lucy was requesting businesses to share their CCTV, the owner of Twinkle Twinkle had footage that she viewed and then messaged some of it to Lucy. Which I suspect possibly means she spotted someone who matches AKs description- she did however also point out no heads were visible due to the angle of her CCTV- which would make it difficult to make a 100% positive ID. Her shop overlooked the war memorial, so that’s one ruled out. What I am surprised about is that there has been no appeal about CCTV stills including people who could possibly be AK and asking the public if it was them to rule out some possible footage. I can’t believe there is none that doesn’t have similar looking people, but is too grainy for 100% ID. Thinking of how they tried to find potential witnesses with the Corrie case.

Question. Is it possible the police are keeping some facts from the family? For whatever reason?

It seems unusual not to have some further update from LE ..I know they have had a few high profile cases the last few weeks but so is this ...a member of the emergency services..lots of public interest..even for PR sake they normally try to give some sort of update to encourage public trust

I suppose they might be but one would assume more for the reason that they are trying to confirm facts before raising or dashing hopes? I can only imagine the world of social media makes some aspect of their jobs harder now, because if they say something too soon, or to the wrong person, the wrong information can be leaked and be in front of a monumental audience in no time.

Are there many posters up and around in Lewes itself? I don't live far away at all and I haven't seen anything, and I've barely seen anything on facebook either which I find odd. In fact I think I have seen more for others missing from further away if anything.

Unless I'm missing something there is very little on Sussex Police Web Page, and the last update on this case 31/12 which does seem quite surprising
