Found Safe UK - Antonino Coppola, 23, from Richmond, Surrey, missing from Bow, East London, 16 Sep 2021

  • #261
I've found an article from Thursday last week which mentions what he had with him (it is a translation by Google) parts bolded by me -Antonino Coppola 23enne scomparso a Londra/ L’amico “vomitava, uscito dalla metro e…”

"The day of the disappearance he was with his friend Ciro, his fellow citizen. The two lived together and on the day of the disappearance they would have had to change homes."

Ciro's words (and it's explained that Ciro watched the CCTV)-

“It makes me ... don't come with me wait for me here otherwise you have to bring your suitcases. I waited near the tracks then after half an hour I got worried and went out with all the luggage ” .

"in the first camera where we were able to see, Antonino can be seen vomiting, raises his head , he walks and turns behind, it is as if he was turning his face for fear that people had seen him throwing up. But then why not go back to the station after throwing up? " .

"From the cameras you can see that he has his backpack on his shoulders with his mobile phone, documents and wallet inside. He may have lost it and no longer have the documents with him. Or taking advantage of his malaise he was robbed and the attackers hurt him?"

Oh, so all along I thought he didn't have his mobile with them. One of the links I'm sure (or was it the Italian TV programme?) said he didn't have his phone or his phone was switched off. I thought it odd for him not to have his mobile with him, even if it was switched off. So documents meaning official documents including passport, most likely. Where is the nearest port to get a boat? (Though he'd need a Covid test, surely?)

Some of those words were corrected by others.

I'm thinking he would not have been hospitalized after the trauma, but somewhat dazed, and looking for a familiar landmark from older, more entrenched memories

Hi just to catch you up on the thread info so far...He and his friend were moving house and so were travelling with their belongings. When he became unwell his friend waited for him at the platform with their luggage etc. as his friend was not familiar with london and needed him to navigate the rest of the journey but he never returned. CCTV shows him throwing up as he leaves the station (he turns right) then disappears after this.

*someone please correct me if I'm wrong on any of these details.

The BIB is wrong, as it's been clarified that his friend has lived in London for a while.

But having told his friend to "wait" on the platform with the bags that wouldn't fit IMO. Obviously we don't how many bags but moving house by train must mean some big or numerous bags even if you don't own much more than clothes.
That's assuming they were making the move in one journey, which may not be the case. But some people travel very light anyway.

It's now 18 days since Antonino went missing and I'm sorry to say I think the window is closing if not already closed to get hold of buscam, dashcam and business CCTV images. Afaik, Ring doorbells store footage for a month though, so imo anyone on the ground should be focusing on asking door to door for that.

good point though Ciro said in the TV show he was left with all the bags.

There were several posts about it
I have followed the thread and I'm not aware any of that was corrected. Presumably you are aware that some of that information is incorrect to have made that post.

It says on Thursday, which was 30 September.

I can't really believe they're related, but there are lots of parallels - both Italian men living in London with a friend, both 23, both about to start a new job, both asthmatic.

I wonder if both these young Italians had had covid jabs and/or covid infections?

I know some of my European contacts are much more undecided about the jabs, especially when they are young. Hopefully the fact that Antonino had asthma and presumably at least some GP contact in the UK, would allow him to make an informed medical decision.

It's not so much the information, more that people have given a better translation of a couple of the phrases.
Google translate tends to be very literal and doesn't always capture the meaning.

I used google translate from the Italian subtitles so I hope the Italian's in this thread will correct anything that might be incorrect:

And here is the google translate into English (Italians please correct this if needs doing):

"It makes me not come with me - wait for me here otherwise you have to bring your suitcases. Or wait near the tracks. Then after half an hour, twenty-five minutes I got worried and went out with all the baggage.
In the first camera where we were able to see Antonino you can see that he vomits raises his head walks and turns directly, because you see him vomiting but then you can see that and as understood he turned his face for fear that he had vomited and people had seen him but because after throwing up don't go back to the station."

Someone has said
At the beginning, the sentence starting with Mi fa… means: He says to me ‘Don’t come with me’

and someone else said "wait near the tracks" means "wait on the platform".

You've mentioned this several times and it isn't true. What about Corrie McKeague? Richard Okorogheye? Just a couple, there's plenty more over the years.
I will stand by @Officer Dibbles comment here and back him up. He didn’t say ALL missing men but certainly a huge proportion of missing men are not a priority for the Police unless there are unusual and exceptional circumstances around the disappearance and I speak from experience, so yes, it is true !
Thank you and welcome to this thread Angleterre
Thankyou @Officer Dibble
I don’t know why but my gut instinct is telling me that this was maybe a planned separation from his friend. I would like to know if he exhibited any signs of feeling unwell earlier that day or if it came upon him suddenly. There’s something just not quite right about all this JMOO

Good point. We've also discussed if it was not just vomit but also diarhorrea and needing to do it in private and I put up posts saying where I thought he might have gone to 'take his trousers down' for the toilet in public (as there weren't many places available with a toilet) - then should he have fallen ill with say Appendix situation -he's the right age - or your suggestion a stroke - the area I mentioned and showed with maps would need to be searched - OR - there were buildings with CCTV outside of that could be checked to see if he went past or not). Someone else has pointed out an area that needs searching. There is of course the possibility that something was going on. Were they officially moving house? Were they moving something else in their baggage? <modsnip> and for whatever reason AC needed to get away but felt genuinely sick with anxiety for situation (being chased, having to escape the friend, having received a message or call to say someone is after him for instance). Maybe he and his friend Ciro were not getting on well and he wanted to escape for whatever reason, good or bad. So many unknowns but if someone would check the local CCTV , Ring doorbells and dash cam before its too late it will give clues where he went and what was going on. Also we've no idea if he pretended to vomit and something came out or he genuinely vomited. If he vomitied was it tested for drugs or alcohol or poisioning etc? JMO MOO
Vomit wouldn’t be tested ordinarily for a missing person. It’s so very expensive now for forensic submission to the Laboratory and the budgets have been cut substantially due to the Government’s Austerity Measures so the Forensic budget holder, usually the Detective Chief Inspector in charge of the divisional CID, has to be very selective in all cases now as to what is a priority submission and what is not …… Just one more way in which investigations are hampered to some degree nowadays

I think your gut instinct, @Angleterre is right.

This is same as I have thought and said. For whatever reason, be it mental state or other, this was an intentional disappearance. Maybe why the police are not actively appealing or searching, as an otherwise fit and healthy young man with no known mental or physical conditions is not considered to be vulnerable or at risk, and there are no suspicious circumstances.
