God speed little girl:heartbeat:. It's still early in the search. I'm praying it turns out to be a terrible misunderstanding.

Petrol station reopens to help with April Jones search

A petrol station in mid Wales town Machynlleth has reopened to help with the search for missing five-year-old April Jones. Nerys Zjalic, the owner of Reads Garage, told ITV Wales:

'We'll stay open all night if we have to.

'We heard about the search through social networking sites and there was a lot of people going past our house. My friend called to ask if we would open so people can get petrol to help in the search. Locals are out in full force searching for her.'

I would expect her to have been wearing the uniform in the left hand photo. We are much further south and a good few degrees warmer and our kids are back in their winter uniform. At the time she was out playing it was getting dark/dark (sunset was around 18:50 today) and would have been quite nippy.

What worries me most was the fact the only witnesses appear to be other children of the same age. Did they run indoors and report it right away, or wait until they were called in and April was noticed missing? Could have given the van driver quite a head start.

According to a report I've seen her friends couldn't ID the van correctly.

I would be asking locals to open up garages and sheds first, it will be cold outside if she is anywhere trapped.

What a cutie pie. Praying she will be found soon.....my mind can't stand the thought of white or light-colored vans. We have enough of those around WS and we don't need any more.

It's raining right now in Machynlleth, and 52°f (11°c); the day's high was 53°, the low tonight 48°f (8.8°c).

Exactly - I have seen it described as a small van, a van sized car and a transit van (much larger).

A search party of over 200 is out there now with torches - I would hope they'll be checking all garages - there seem to be several blocks of them on that estate.

It has echoes of Sarah Payne for me too - far too many similarities, which enhances the feelings of dread.

In the midst of this terrible case, its heartwarming to see a community come together.

The van pictured is a Ford Transit. I wonder if they have a description other than from the five-year-olds.

It's pitched as an upgrade to one's business's service van or wagon.

The Transit has been the best-selling light commercial vehicle in Europe for 40 years

I'm wondering how common this type of van is in the UK. I notice there are no windows in the back. Makes my heart sink....

This is probably one of the most common vehicles on the road in the UK, especially in white. However, a lot of them are liveried - we have one with the company name on it, but these are 5 year olds and may not be able to read, especially names which may be unfamiliar. We have an area of parking for about 15 vehicles outside out house. I can guarantee at least 5 of those will be transit (or very similar) vans.

These are work vans - the back is often boarded out and will have shelving. They are predominantly used by tradesmen, often one man businesses.

The 'white van man' is a well known phenomenon. White van man - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This is so scary. I hope to God they can locate this van, and in turn, this little one quickly. So hard when all the witnesses are also small children. The article says she was seen "getting into the van" as opposed to being pulled in...seems awfully "lucky" that this perp would get a child to go with him on his first attempt. Wonder if he's been lurking around or has tried to lure another, but because the children are so young they aren't putting it together?
