Hello! Question: I posted a comment and somebody asked me where I found what I said. How do I place a link in my post?
TIA

Hi Why, do you mean how do you put a link in any posts you make? or the original post you made?

I wonder if they have taken DNA evidence from under his fingernails or elsewhere on his person?

If he is a list maker by habit maybe they found some kind of notes about disposing of a body or destroying evidence.

They might have video evidence of some of his movements near the time of abduction.

MOO

I have a feeling this is going to be a very gruesome case. I reckon a significant amount of blood was found at the cottage and maybe her clothes.

Please God no. I can't bear it. :(

So sad for April's parents, family, and the community.

I would love to hear the evidence they found in his home.

Going back to the beginning I believe I remember someone suggesting perhaps she got away and that's what MB was looking for by the river when he was caught walking on video. Now I'm wondering if that was part of his master plan along with the abandoned vehicle that was relatively close to him when he was arrested. With the last charge, could it have been because he sent them on a wild goose chase?

With such efforts being put into the river searching first and now a forensics tent up at his cottage I wonder if he said she was in the river but is actually closer to his home?

So on Monday in court will he be asked to plead guilty or not guilty? And a trial date set? If so will be interesting to see what he pleads. He is still presumed innocent until proven otherwise.

It occurs to me they are not feeling completely sure they can get a conviction for murder and that's why they bothered to throw in the lesser charges. They're sure he had a part in the whole thing, but are not sure they can convince a jury he actually deliberately killed her, which would be required for murder.

i assumed the perverting the course of justice charge was in relation to hiding the body?

  • #989
I'm wondering if they charged him with the lesser charges in order to possibly use them to possibly get him to say where April is? Maybe they will drop the lesser charges if he tells them? Something like that?

Please excuse the gruesomness, but didn't he use to work in a slaughter house? Would he have access to tools which could destroy even bones? (So Sorry!)

If so, maybe there is no "body" to be found.

He still hasn't been tried or found guilty of anything yet, so I hope people on here will avoid the kangaroo court method of trial by forum.

It's worth remembering how much pressure the local police force will be under to get a result here, and fast. They have never dealt with such a high profile child abduction/murder case before.

We hope they are dealing with it well, but not everyone responds well to great pressure. This could also be true of MB. If the questioning has been relentless and desperate, he may have cracked and made a false confession, if he doesn't have a very strong will.

He is obviously the most likely suspect, but people should be wary of calling for the rope, based on the fact that a further charge of perverting the course of justice has been added.

We don't really know what went on in those interviews. I say this, even though I would be highly surprised if he doesn't turn out to be the guilty man, based on the information that has been made public by police. This is a very strange case, though.

How long will it be for this case to go to trial?

Not that quick I'm afraid. Monday in Magistrates Court his case will be referred to Crown Court a couple of days later. He will be remanded in custody and we'll have to wait some months if not longer for the plea and case management hearing and then even longer before the trial

Why does there have to be sick SOB like this? Ugh.

Agree. Perhaps MB led them to believe there was a body to find, when there actually isn't a physical body in existence now, IYSWIM. That is my feeling.

They won't give up looking for a body though, or any related evidence, given that the police feel he has lied to them.

To posters outside of the UK:
What will happen now is that he will appear before a magistrates court. A magistrates court does not have the powers to deal with murder. If he pleads not guilty, which I bet he will, - he will be appointed a QC - a barrister - to represent him in court. He won't pay for this, unless he has a lot of money - he will get legal aid. The barrister is selected at random has to takethe case - they can't refuse. In the Tia Sharp case, SH hit the jackpot with one of the best QCs in the UK. The Barrister will pick over all the police evidence looking for holes, looking for reasonable doubt. That is why it will take many months to come to trial.

I'm so glad someone else said that. I've been thinking something similar all along but didn't want to actually say it. I think it would have left a lot of evidence if he did something like that somewhere in the cottage.

Several months, although if he pleads guilty there may not be a trial.

My thoughts exactly :(

We have just heard the press conference....3 charges, abduction, perverting the course of justice and murder....but...please STILL hope and pray for Aprils' safe return. Awful to hear the police constantly refer to her in the past tense...how terrible this must be for her loved ones. Whilst I realise that the police need to keep evidence safe....I think they owe it to the family, searchers...and the rest of us to, at least, state...categorically...that there is no way she is still alive. Until they do this...I..and many others..will refuse to accept that she has to be dead.

Yes...and it is believed he also had a collection of weapons...knives, swords etc., but NO proof yet available that this little dab is dead.

Hi, say I read something and need to put a link to it, say sky news, an article in the papers, etc., in order to show where i found it. Thanks.
