About bloody time they found the car, if it is Catherine's. Just 2 miles from her home?

Can't help wondering if the fact 150 officers are involved in search for April Jones has left the Catherine Gowing investigation threadbare.

Superintendent Ian John said he could not rule out the ongoing search for April would extend into 2013.

"We said goodbye to 150 officers this morning and they've been replaced by another 150 specialists," he said, speaking from Machynlleth.

I had an incident with my daughter only a few weeks ago, we took the dog for a walk and while I & eldest daughter walked around the large dog park my youngest daughter stayed near the entrance in the childrens play area, no other children where in there I kept looking over to check on her, all of a sudden she started shouting "mummy", I made my way across the park to her and noticed a young man stood watching her, he was wearing a hoody with sunglasses (it wasnt sunny) and was just acting very strange, as we started to walk away he began to follow, when we stopped he stopped and all the time he was watching us, at one point our dog ran over to him and my eldest daughter went to get her, she apologised for the dog jumping up and he said " thats no problem" she noticed he had a Birmingham accent, which is a couple hours drive from us, he continued to walk in the same direction and when we got the the car park he stopped in front of us and just stood staring, i was actually too terrified to walk past him with my youngest so we started to walk the other way and he disapeared towards the road.
I did call the police when we got home and they went looking for him, there was also another young man over the other side of the park wearing a hoodie, he also had no children or dog with him but I am not sure these two men were together...... I have never felt so afraid for my daughters safety and was convinced he was going to try to grab her had we walked closer to him!

Creatures!
Any feedback from Police?

And they still haven't searched the houses on the estate.

One should bear in mind that some of these "incidents" are completely innocuous. The other day I was driving through the neighbouring village to mine at about 3.30pm. On the edge of the village I noticed a girl of about 12, I do not know her but I know her father in passing. They live in a remote house halfway between the two villages and as it was just coming on to rain heavily I stopped and offered her a lift. I was not really surprised when she declined, but felt a bit sad about it. She would have been absolutely drenched by the time she got home. :( and there's no pavement.

I assume you mean the Bryn-Y-Gog estate? Not trying to be funny here but how do you know they haven't?

It is such a pity that we don't have an on-line publicly accessible paedophile register as they do in the USA.

They have just started one here, in Western Australia. Other than that, it's just informal websites, nothing official.

Pedophile register a hit by: Paige Taylor From: The Australian October 17, 2012 12:00AM

THERE has been an extraordinary response to the nation's first publicly accessible child sex offender register but no request for background checks two days after Western Australia launched the online service.
Police commissioner Karl O'Callaghan said yesterday he had not yet received an application from parents or guardians wanting a check on an individual who had unsupervised contact with their child or a child in their care.

Despite early technical glitches interrupting access, there were 11,350 hits on the Community Protection Website within the first four hours of it going live on Monday.

The site contains the names and faces of nine West Australian pedophiles who are missing. People can also receive instant details -- including photographs -- of dangerous child sex offenders living in or near their suburb.

The WA police squad that deals with child sex offenders has been boosted from 41 to 73 officers to cope with what Mr O'Callaghan anticipates will be a sustained influx of requests for information.

The most labour-intensive aspect of the register is the section that allows parents or guardians to apply to find out if a person with unsupervised access to their child has any convictions for child sex offences. Those requests must be assessed and approved by Mr O'Callaghan or one of his four assistant commissioners, and such applications were expected soon.

The website's most readily accessible section gives information to the public about pedophiles who have failed to report to their case managers and whose whereabouts are unknown.

Another section, which police said had been heavily used on Monday and yesterday, allows parents and guardians to apply confidentially for the names and photographs and other details of the most dangerous child sex offenders living in their suburb and surrounding suburbs.

Regarding the possibility that MB is ex military, I have only seen it reported in one of the papers that the MOD didn't hold any records on him, has it ever been stated from an official source?
I wouldn't have thought you could just contact the MOD with a "Hey has this bloke ever been in the army?"
As far as I know MOD records come under the data protection act and there are quite strict regulations regarding gaining access to someones service record. I'm not sure if finding out in a person was actually in the armed forces would come under similar regs.

None, when we left the car park in our car a minute or so after him he was no where to be seen on the road so im pretty sure he was driving something, I guess he was long gone by the time the police took all the details from me and then sent a patrol car to look for him, a week or so before this happened we was sent a text from the school about a man offering children sweets at a different park, possibly the same man or men.

Do you think it's more likely that MOD would confirm that a person had no military record, than that they did have (of course Police would be able to get access to records).

Military records in Australia are accessible to confirm a record, but not the full details of service for post WWII unless you are very close family.
All WWI records have been digitally copied and they are working through WWII - they are all available on National Archives website to download. If your family member's WWII record isn't copied yet you can pay $16 and they will do it and put on website. www.naa.gov.au
Details of service are searchable through Australian War Memorial site www.awm.gov.au Tells you full name, DOB, POB, next of kin, enlistment and discharge date and unit.

Because the press would have been all over it.

I think you would just get a "I'm sorry we are not allowed to disclose that kind of information" type answer.
I don't know what to think, but if MB was ex military and was discharged due to some kind of injury, then he would be most likely getting some type of pension payment from the army. Which might go some way as to explaining his erratic employment record if he had a regular income anyway.

That would be an open invitation for vigilantes to carry out their own "justice" - probably attacking the wrong people in the process.

Remember the distinguished paediatrician who was forced out of her home (in Wales) by ignoramuses who confused her professional title with the word "paedophile"?

Born in Sutton, south London, Bridger has lived in several properties in Machynlleth. The Ministry of Defence is checking reports that Bridger is a former soldier.
Born in November 1965, Bridger moved to Machynlleth in the 1980s, and married in 1990.

Then this:-

It had been reported that Bridger was a former soldier, but the Ministry of Defence said today that he had never been a member of the armed forces.

They don't do that in America and they have guns. What makes you think that we in Britain would behave any different? You will always get the odd idiot.

I thought Bridger was born in Croydon, or is Sutton in Croydon?

Close suburbs I think from memory. Croydon might be the official reg district?
Looks like it's vice versa -
