Of course it should. If you are worried about SOs in your area who might have contact with your child, in the UK you can apply to the police for this information under the Child Sex Offender Disclosure Scheme ("Sarah's Law"). You must give a reason for your concern - they will not supply the information to those who are merely nosey - and the details are supplied in confidence, with a potentially unlimited fine in the County Court for anyone who breaks this confidentiality.

I'm willing to accept the Child Sex Offender Disclosure Scheme as a good compromise, especially with the threat of an unlimited fine for disclosure. Full disclosure of everything to everyone *will* result in the vigilante lynch mobs having a field day, all aided and abetted by the pleb tabloid press we have here. Mark my words, there will be arson, and plenty of related and unrelated 3rd parties will be either seriously harmed or killed in the process. Were it to happen, there would then be a judicial inquiry into the "rSO full disclosure law" and it'll get scrapped.

Done it again haven't I !! More mistakes, tried to edit unsuccessfully. The accused is Christopher Haliwell, the victim Sian O'Callaghan.
Shall I quietly withdraw ?
No, we all make mistakes, stay, more heads together the better :)

I'm finding this an interesting read.

Any report of a missing child should be taken seriously. As many facts as possible surrounding the disappearance should be obtained as fast as possible, and an assessment of the nature of the case made expeditiously. Factors to
consider in assessing the case should include the age of the child, the circumstances surrounding the child’s missing status, and the history of the child.
Fast action is necessary since, 1) there is typically over a two hour delay in making the initial missing child
report (60%), and 2) the vast majority (74%) of the abducted children who are murdered are dead within three hours of
the abduction. Because of these critical time features, it is important to respond quickly with a neighborhood canvass
and search of the area.
Over half (53%) of these child abduction murders are committed by a killer who is a stranger to the victim.
Family involvement in this type of case is infrequent (9%). However, the relationship between the victim and the killer
varies with the gender and age of the victim. The youngest females, 1-5 years old, tend to be killed by friends or
acquaintances (64%), while the oldest females, 16-17 years old, tend to be killed by strangers (also 64%). The relationship between the killer and victim is different for the male victims. The youngest male victims (1-5 years old) are most
likely to be killed by strangers (also 64%), as are the teenage males (13-15 years old, 60% and 16-17 years old, 58%).

I understand that 'Mach' is a small town, but I do wander if the prosecution are going to have a problem putting 'credible' witnesses on the stand as all the ones we know so far are very good friends with April's Family and also friends/ex friends with him??
The Black Bag witness, for instance...and has also been on the News, Interviewed even after charges were bought.
If I was on the Jury, it would certainly concern me?

Apologies if I have spoken out of turn, Delete if you want All my own opinion.

This has been my concern since day 2, when it started to become apparent what had happened. Trying to get a "credible" witness (who won't have been tainted by all the rumours circulating in that place) will be like trying to extract a teaspoon of water from a bowl of soup.

Do you mean some witnesses will lie or embroider the truth? Why do this? I dont follow.

Close knit, related, watching each others backs etc

  • #88
If they have such strong evidence will they need the witnesses?

The truth may become unwittingly distorted due to all the discussion taking place in the area, from which they can't escape. 3 months until the trial, remember.

I still dont follow.....watching each others backs for what?
If they have convinced themselves it is Bridger, their evidence could be coloured in that direction. Look at Facebook etc many people want him hung before the trial.

Oh i see, well false memory is one thing, deliberately distorting it on the stand is another and if anyone does i should hope they get the full perjury charges

Well, any decent defence lawyer should shred any BS in five minutes

Will the jury members be from all over the UK? Or just from wales?

In theory, just from Wales. I don't know which area they'll select to find jurors, but I imagine they both sides know they'll have to select outside of a certain radius of Machynlleth. I'd be surprised if they selected anyone closer than Barmouth to the NW, Bala to the NE, Aberaeron to the SW, and Llandrindod Wells to the SE. Remember that in rural Wales, the population is low and sparse, and there are even fewer jobs. There's a great deal of self-employment. It all adds up to a great number of people having to travel long distances to get to their job, or as part of their job. Thus rumours picked up in one town can spread to another.

I'm still surprised why LE hasn't contacted FB to shut down any and all pages wanting MB hung.

Unfortunately people lie on the stand, under oath, ALL the time. Not saying that is the case here but just wanted to comment on that fact.

Since he was never convicted - or even charged - with any offence, he would never have appeared on the sex offenders list, even if the list was made public.
No, but he would have been publicly known as being part of this. Politicians know how to hush things up.

By 1978 PIE and Paedophile Action for Liberation had become affiliated to The National Council for Civil Liberties, later re-branded as Liberty, with members attending meetings. The organisation was headed by future Labour Government Minister Patricia Hewitt and it campaigned against newspapers' treatment of the Paedophile activist groups. Whilst affiliated with NCCL, PIE also campaigned to reduce the age of consent and oppose the proposed banning of child 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬, with future Labour Minister Harriet Harman arguing that “childhood sexual experiences, willingly engaged in, with an adult result in no identifiable damage” and that the 1978 Protection of Children Act would lead to “damaging and absurd prosecutions”. Whilst PIE was affiliated with it, the organisation argued for incest to be decriminalised and argued that sexually explicit photographs of children should be legal unless it could be proven that the subject had suffered harm or that the an inference to that effect or to the effect that harm might have been caused could reasonably be drawn from the images themselves, with Harman arguing that it would “increase censorship”.[3] NCCL excluded PIE in 1983.[4]

Do you have a link?

Just put some info into google images and some rifles including sniper rifles came up.

It's difficult to tell what his (air?) rifle is though. His arm is obscuring the trigger part and possible ammunition clip part. All I can see is a distinctively marked hand guard (the fat ribbed bit before the barrel) and quite a short barrel. The scope could have been changed. The supports could have been added.

When my husband gets home I'll ask him to have a look.

Then again, I don't think it's that significant. Just someone showing off his toy and his prowess with it.

Bringing this over from the other thread.

I may be accused of over analysing here, but is there any significance to the fact Mark Bridger updated his profile picture on Facebook 2 weeks ago? He went from a friendly face in a swimming pool to a side on shot holding a gun. And, could the landscape in that photo be of any significance?

Re. landscape in the photo. I would assume that this was taken at the Dovey Valley Shooting Ground. See pic.
Scroll out to see proximity to Machynlleth & Ceinws. The local shooting club.

OK thanks on the jury issue

Damn, I just did a long reply and lost it, I would think if reported to FB they would have to remove the pages under some clause here in 3 or 5

http://www.facebook.com/legal/terms

I think LE here can track down a real named person off FB, as they have and arrested and convicted them for posting vile jokes, whether the page is removed or not by FB, I dont think LE have power to remove FB pages
I dont know if LE have asked FB to remove those stupid pages, but someone who has FB should flag them to FB as hate and incitement posts, I dont know, when you report something toFB what are the options given to tick as reasons?
