Another thing is I think he knew things weren’t right, and that’s why he asked the Social Worker to meet in a car park, the social worker said it had to be house. But really, the social worker should have arranged a time to talk to him on his own or asked why he wanted to meet in a car park…that would ring alarm bells for me. It’s possible that he would have confided more that he needed help if he was talking on his own without ET knowing he was meeting the SW. He has said in court that he spoke to gps and school, this is what makes me think he thought it was actually discipline and not the terrible abuse it was . I think that he tried to act ‘manly’ as if he was in control of his life when he wasn’t really, no home of his own, lockdown forcing him out of work...he saw any caring intentioned conversations as criticism. I think it’s really very sad because to me he doesn’t appear to have much intelligence,it’s stated that he hated school, likes simple things in life such as football, collecting stickers and PlayStation. This makes me think he was more like a teenager in his mind-very easily manipulated. I think ET would have alienated him by saying she’s ‘on his side and he’s right’ and the National lockdown exasperated it by him not being able to see friends to say “that doesn’t sound right mate, you need to leave that one”. The lockdown had a lot to do with it I think, if they moved in together during a normal year with Arthur at school it’s possible that this wouldn’t have happened as ET wouldn’t have the chance for her influence to go unnoticed. Not making excuses or defending him, he is definitely guilty of 4 counts of cruelty, but I do think by what I’ve read in the daily transcripts, if he hadn’t of met her he wouldn’t be an abuser

also the naivety in his answers to the prosecution, he said on his first date he told ET about his situation and sons mother in prison and he thought that she would run a mile, but she assured him she would love him…this shows to me that he is incredibly naive to be even thinking about love on a first date. It’s as if she saw him coming…

Abuse and coercive control can massively change a persons character.

This is so true. It's one of these things that unless you've been or seen this type of relationship it can be hard for people to understand how/why it happens

Jeez, look at his back! There's a lot more going on there than "just" that awful bruise on his shoulder - which incidentally doesn't look like the kind of bruising you'd expect if only children were involved in inflicting it. That, to me at least, looks like he's been hit really hard with something - possibly more than once.

I’ve just seen this…how on earth did the SW and police close the case…these are not normal bruises. He was so badly let down, it’s heartbreaking

Dotta Poland also has child abuse and neglect. In my husbands neighbourhood lives a man who sexually abused both his daughters, his wife turned a blind eye and still lives with him. The abuse only stopped when the elder daughter reported it. Cases like Arthur's happen in every country in the world.

Thinking about the SW missing that bruise.....because they didn't see the photo TH's mum took maybe they only lifted his jumper (or whatever) saw the bruise lower on his back and assumed that was all there was. I really can't see any other way they could have thought it wasn't cause for concern

Unless ET’S son is a lot taller than Arthur I can't see how that bruise wouldn't immediately suggest adult involvement. If inflicted by someone closer to Arthur’s height it wouldn't be OVER the shoulder like that

The abuse has no nationality.
It happens all over the world every day.

From what I’ve been able to find, I don’t believe ET son was taller than Arthur. I think Arthur was the taller of the two.

Social worker should have checked way more thoroughly, that bruise should not have been missed.

I daresay the same old "lessons will be learnt" will be trotted out after this. How many children have to die before SW are properly trained and take positive action. I know it's a difficult decision but surely temporarily removing ten children unnecessarily whilst investigating is preferable to giving the benefit of the doubt and one child ending up dead. Traumatised children can receive counselling but no amount of counselling can resurrect one. Poor Arthur’s death could so easily have been prevented.

That is no accidental bruise, it looks as if he'd been hit with something with a lot of force, or even kicked. The poor boy, any sympathy I had for TH Is fading fast, how could he allow this or even do this to his own son !

“Yesterday, heart-wrenching CCTV emerged showing the emaciated youngster, whose pyjamas appear to be hanging off him, grimace in pain as he tries to pick up his cover and special Avengers pillow.

In the haunting video, filmed just hours earlier on June 16 and shown to the court yesterday, the tragic boy is seen struggling to stand before slumping to the floor of the living room.

Arthur cries 'no one loves me' four times as he struggles to walk to the other side of the room while appearing to be suffering from a limp.

Following on from that, it also states:

On Tuesday jurors were played the CCTV footage of Arthur struggling to move his duvet after being forced to sleep in the living room for the fifth day in a row.

Could it be this cctv that has caused ETs mysterious illness, as in, seeing in black and white, how destroyed Arthur was merely hours before he died at her hands? I think this too. They didn't lift his top up all the way. They're trained to do this job, they should go into every case with professional curiosity. I do it in my job, lots of us do it.
And then for the SW to say she was 'shocked and confused' when she saw JHs photo - why not follow that up?!!

Absolutely! Complete lack of professionalism, and a little boy died. They're trained in victim coaching. Best practice is to interview all involved alone. If only...
