Neither this story nor the one linked in it from which this headline is taking say when & where the two alleged sightings occurred, ergo, are they believable?

What is the "second peak" she mentioned in a message to a friend saying she was going on a 20-mile walk. Was this a day trip or an overnight camping/backpacking trip?

Does AP normally walk trips of this distance? How familiar is she with the search area?

What was going on in her personal life?

If well-provisioned & not expected back (40 mile round trip from car position?) the same day it's a different scenario that the alarm being expressed.

I just find the lack of details about whether such a walk was out of her norm or not ODD.

Hoping she is found soon & well!

Unfortunately the tragic outcome we feared. North Wales Police have just issued a statement confirming that a body has been found on a mountain in the area where she'd been hiking. Thoughts with her family and friends who clearly thought the world of her.

Did she succumb to the weather, or was it something else? I thought initially looking at the size of that dog he would have provided quite a bit warmth.

The information given out doesn't say but we do know weather conditions deteriorated on the day she set out and it is very exposed on those mountains. Freezing with snow and ice overnight. There is the possibility of a fall but crags and cliffs on the Yr Aryg aren't widespread and the location given out is understandably vague to make any informed speculation in that regard.

Yes I was looking on the OS maps and thinking it doesn't look like there are steep cliffsides in that area (could be wrong of course from just going by maps). From where her car was found it looks like she maybe walked the ridge path north to south and was about 7 miles into her hike.

Very sad, RIP.

''Her disappearance came as overnight temperatures plunged to almost zero degrees amid a yellow weather warning across parts of Wales for wind, rain and snow on higher ground.
Police had said she is an experienced mountain walker who was well equipped for the conditions.''

''On Thursday, mountain rescue team members found a woman's body near Yr Aryg in the Carneddau mountain range, a force spokesman said.''

So sad. How sad for her family but also her loyal dog.

There are no steep cliffs but lots of loose, rocky terrain. It’s remote. You can walk for hours without seeing a soul. Local news is reporting sightings at 10.30 and 4.30pm.

She was a keen hiker and well known in the area.

The family of a woman who was sadly found dead after a multi-agency search have paid tribute to her.

Ausra Plungiene, 56 was from Prestatyn. She was reported missing last Tuesday evening after failing to return home from a walk with her dog in the Carneddau. Mountain Rescue Teams found her near Yr Aryg last Thursday afternoon (13th April).

Ausra’s family said: “All of our family would like to thank everyone for their support, love and good wishes that they have given us over the last few horrific days. Friends, family, work colleagues and complete strangers, all have supported us. We can say no more than ‘thank you from the bottom of our hearts’.

“We cannot express enough thanks to so many people that gave up their time to search for our beloved Ausra.

“The police and all their work in front and behind the scenes to trace activities, look after us, support and advise us has been truly remarkable.

“The mountain rescue service, RAF, support helicopters, army and every single individual that we cannot name tried their hardest to find her, through at times very difficult conditions.
“We cannot thank you all enough.

“Ausra is off on another adventure, and we are sure the lives she touched while this angel was with us have been enhanced.”
