Missing late at night and near a river......

Just down the road from me, really hoping he's not in the river, straight road home wouldn't really have put him in danger.

Police have refocused their operation to find missing Ben Savage to Chatham following an ''extensive review of CCTV footage."

The search will now focus on the Sun Pier area of Chatham.

Kent Police officers will also be searching locations around the river and town centre, and will be assisted by the coastguard and volunteers from Kent Search and Rescue

Tap was a teen haunt of mine, I can't believe I have not seen that Ben is missing until today. It's pretty mild weather wise but I really hope he is not in the water.

Ugh sad to see this all over again, pretty much every year. Getting flashbacks of Josh Thomas. Sun Pier where they are searching for Ben, is a five minute walk from where he went missing in Rochester

http://www.websleuths.com/forums/sh...K-Josh-Thomas-18-Rochester-7-April-2013/page4

and Kieron Knowlden who went missing on a night out about 30 min away in Tonbridge and was later found in the river.

Hoping his family get answers soon.

And hi to another local tigerlily96.

Use hashtag #FindBen to help find man missing since night out with friends

Kent Police said: ‘Searches of the pier and surrounding area have been carried out, along with other areas of interest that were identified during enquiries. These searches are now complete.

‘Further work is now ongoing to identify potential new locations to search, and to establish the circumstances leading up to his disappearance.’

‘He is believed to have been wearing a black waist-length jacket with a zip on one arm, a grey T-shirt with a large white number on the front, dark blue skinny jeans and black trainers with white detail.

When are these lads gona get that they are just as vulnerable to bad things happening as girls when out drinking and mates don't keep an eye on each other.

I wonder if the tide would take him up to the Isle of grain, maybe to Sheppey. The Estuary is pretty calm and it's not at all windy.

Took them three weeks to find Josh and he wasn't that far away :(

The family of missing #Medway man Ben Savage have issued a statement regarding his disappearance.

Mr Savage, 18, did not return home following a night out in #Chatham and was reported missing on the morning of Tuesday 6 December 2016.

His mother Tara has now issued the following statement on behalf of herself, his father Martin, brother Luke and the rest of their family.

‘Myself, Martin, Luke and the rest of Ben’s family would like to thank the emergency services, coastguard, volunteers and general public for their overwhelming support in the search for Ben.

‘After an extensive review of CCTV footage, we are coming to terms with the likelihood that Ben fell in the River Medway during the early hours of Tuesday morning. Based on the temperature of the water, the river currents and Ben’s level of consciousness when entering the river, we have to assume that he would have been unable to swim to safety.

‘This is a heartbreaking time for everyone and so we, Ben’s family, now ask for some time and space to grieve.

‘We would again like to thank the public for their overwhelming efforts searching for Ben. It is now time to hand the search over completely to the coastguard, who continue to work tirelessly searching the river.

‘Our focus is also on the ongoing police investigation into this incident and the hours leading up to Ben’s disappearance. If anyone has any information about his final evening, please contact Kent Police on 101 quoting reference 06-0198.’

CCTV footage of Mr Savage’s last known movements show him walking onto Sun Pier, #Chatham, at 3.16am on Tuesday 6 December 2016. He is not seen to return.

Detective Inspector Chris Greenstreet of Kent Police said: ‘Tragically, the most likely explanation for Mr Savage’s disappearance is that he entered the river. The evidence is compelling when you also consider that it would be very out of character for him to go missing and to not contact his family or friends.

‘We have kept his immediate family informed throughout the investigation and I would like to pay tribute to them for how dignified and supportive they have been.

‘They have now requested privacy during this difficult time.

‘I would also like to thank everyone who has helped to raise awareness of the appeal to locate Mr Savage and our thoughts are with them also.’

How incredibly sad but at least the family have an idea of what happened to him instead of never really knowing. I hope he is recovered soon.

Chatham is quite a grim place at night... The falling into the River is plausible but still no body has been found.

Hopefully the lad turns up but it'd looking bleak.

The family said they assumed he fell in 9 days ago - still he hasn't been found? I couldn't find any recent articles about Police searching the river, nothing since 13th December

The river never guarantees to return bodies in a certain time frame or ever.
