"The jury were told that initially Sarah Walker had contacted Cambridgeshire police via the webchat service at 1.31am, asking for advice.

She told the officer on the web chat that she had received messages from Bernadette saying she was OK, but had not heard from her for a while.

The officer advised Sarah Walker to call 101 to make a missing person report.

She made the 101 call at 3.18am, with the call lasting 50 minutes.

In the call she started by saying: “Hiya, it’s Mrs Walker. Umm...I’m just ringing to report my 17-year-old daughter er...missing.”

When asked how long she had been missing, Sarah Walker said; “ Well, she ran away on Saturday lunch time but I knew where she was until she stopped messaging at er... 1am er...yesterday morning.”

The jury have heard Bernadette’s phone was in the Cowbit area on the Monday evening when the last activity on it was recorded.

Sarah added: “Yeah and I sort of...I gave her the day to sort of ...sort it out a bit because it’s not the first time she’s done it

“And then of course as umm ...it’s become...I’ve become aware of the fact that she’s not where she told us she was so obviously I...that’s what I’m phoning now.”

During the call, Sarah Walker was asked about the events on the last time she was seen alive.

When asked when the last time either Sarah or Scott Walker saw Bernadette was.

Sarah said: “Umm...it was around I’d say what 1pm on the Saturday the 18th.

When asked where it was, Sarah said: “Where was it she got...she jumped out the car and run off, I’m just asking her dad now.”

A male voice in background is heard to say: “Er...Salters Way.”

Sarah Walker then said: ‘It was between Salters Way,’ before a male voice can be heard saying: “Mountstevens. And Mountsteven Avenue, it was around that area.”

Sarah Walker was asked where Bernadette said she was going. She replied: “She...she didn’t she just umm...she was just...he was just, he was just talking to her about y’know cos they’d been a row and that’s why she had gone to Grandparents and he just said, look er...y’know we’ll go home, we can talk about things at home and she went, I am not going home, I’ve told you. And she just, got out and ran.”

Sarah Walker then told the officer that she had received a message from Bernadette saying she was at a friend’s house - but when asked if she had been round to the friend’s house, she said: “Er...I didn’t no because his parents are umm.. Polish and I, she doesn’t speak a word of English.”

Later in the call, Sarah Walker said: “In hindsight I wish I’d phoned you guys a bit sooner but I didn’t wanna push her away by... I don’t know...stupid idea.”

The officer asked Sarah Walker to re-cap what had happened when Bernadette was last seen. She said: “Umm....I ...I wasn’t there but umm...she’d ...her dad had said something along the lines of er...y’know, you, you need to apologise to mum when we get back umm....and then obviously you can’t...you can’t just be having attitude and things like that and she said, I’m not going home and just...he stopped to roll a cigarette and she just jumped and ran. So he sort of jumped out of the car, locked it and then ran after her... but because he had to...he was delayed because he had to pull the car up...cos he’d only pulled it, side of road so he had to pull it onto the kerb, so it weren’t blocking traffic.”

Sarah Walker was also asked for a description of Bernadette, if she had run away before, and if she had access to money or social media accounts.

She said Bernadette had topped her phone up. The court has previously heard a top up voucher was purchased using Sarah Walker’s bank card at 6.28pm on July 18 - the day Bernadette was last seen alive - with the top up used on Bernadette’s phone.

The police officer also asked if Sarah Walker had checked any of the hospitals, with Sarah Walker saying she had not."

This whole thing literally breaks my heart from what's happened to how the siblings are so hopeful. I'd absolutely love it if she turned up at a police station but I really really don't think she will the Mum is absolutely vile!!

Bernadette Walker Murder Trial: Jury hear teenager’s mum’s call to report daughter missing more than three days after she was last seen alive

Not what she says but what she concentrates on. There is so much unnecessary detail about her running away and the ex parking a car to avoid traffic. But no detail on anything of worth.

when making up stuff on the fly, you need to have something to cling to. That whole statement is excuses, justification and a fixation with parking

Also, waited another hour to call the police after being advised to do so?

Just looking at the time slots realistically available to ScW when he could firstly murder BW, secondly to scope out disposal sites and thirdly to carry out the actual disposal.

Note: I am making the presumption that this murder was NOT planned, so at the time of the murder, acceptable disposal sites had not been checked. If BWs murder had been planned prior to her going to her grandparents, well, that's a whole different ball game as by the time BW was killed, her final resting place would have already been decided!!

However, keeping it simple and not mentioning any of the questions or the "ah, but, what if" that naturally arise or other potential scenarios....

11.06 to 11.23 ScW appears to be driving to Gunthorpe, so unlikely able to commit murder unless it was done as part of the 410 steps walked?
11.23 to 12.54 (90 mins) Location of ScW still presumably at Gunthorpe, no mention of movement. 90 mins is ample time to murder. (but in broad daylight? wow!)
12.54 to 13.23 The phone call advising of 'job complete' then off for a Big Mac - astonishing this, if he has indeed just murdered BW!!
14.00 to 14.15 Still at MacD, takes 16 min total phone call from SaW
14.30 Back at the lockup - looking for spade/waders/rope/sheeting?
14.50 - 18.16 At home then leave to go to Westwood
18.54 - 22.14 (4 hours) leave Westwood - timeline mentions no travel/location so WHERE ARE THEY? Looking for a disposal site? Better to check it out in daylight I suppose!
22.48 - 23.08 Back at lockup - checking on corpse?
02.36 travels to lockup
02.47 - 03.00 at lockup, transfers body to car. making sure nothing is 'leaking'. Leaves lockup.
03.06 - 05.23 (2h15m) Phone is at Ulldale Way - steps at 03.08 are to place phone outside car for later retrieval. Drives away to dispose of body.
05.37 - 06.00 rReturns to and drops tools off at lockup, cleaning them up, maybe disposing of them locally?
06.20 Back to MacDs - hungry work burying your step-daughter.

So, simplistically, since everything else that follows and that which was performed by SaW, is basically laying the lie and covering up, there are certainly times available to ScW to both kill and then dispose on BW.

But this is a potential timeline for the murder and disposal of BW. Dependent upon the method of disposal, I reckon the site would be less than 60mins at a maximum down to potentially no more than 30mins travel from Gunthorpe

You can hear by the ... gaps and umms and errs in sentences that SaW is just making up parts of that as she goes.

Just lies on top of lies.

Bet her fellow inmates are rather unhappy with her !

Between Salter's [Skater's] Way and Mountstevens Avenue? That's a big area to be vague about when ScW has local knowledge. Later on they are more definite that it's Skater's Way.

The way SaW doesn't know where B allegedly got out of the car, it doesn't sound like a mother who doesn't know what's going on, imho.

Surely if your husband/partner came home and told you that your daughter got out of the car and ran away you'd be like "where, tell me exactly what was said and where she got out!"

But instead this hypothetical discussion went more like:

"Where's B, why didn't she come back with you?"
"She got out the car and ran away! I couldn't stop her."
"Oh, okay, what do you want for lunch?"

Yes it’s amazing isn’t it....3 days Bernadette had been *missing* by the time SaW makes the call and she’s just....asking her dad now....as to where it was exactly

She totally just pulled that out her @$$. They really didn't think the police would question them about why she'd gone to stay at the grandparents? Sarah again being so self centered her go to defense is she did nothing wrong, the other person needs to apologize to her.

I would like to know whether there was any cctv in the vicinity of the lock up. This seems like it could be a likely location for a serious misdeed - certainly as ScW returns there frequently during the 3 days she’s missing. Having seen the photos it would be possibly easy to have persuaded B to get out the car and help him find something one of the younger kids needed or something to commit some degree of crime at that point - I’m
thinking, if not necessarily a scene of a violence, could he have drugged her/ gagged her or something here. There was also her rucksack left there - she could have taken that with her into the lock up and hence the oversight of it being found there. I don’t know how trusting B was but I can’t imagine she would want to go on a walk with him out the car, given the circumstances at that time, for example and then that would leave the question of how to get a body into the car in daylight. Maybe there was access to meds in the household that could cause death if taken in overdose. I know it’s speculation but there’s just something about the lock up that’s suggesting it is v important to this set of events.
ETA:

I recall seeing on a comment on a Facebook post from last year that there was a wheelchair kept in the lock up and also the cars had removable seats so the wheelchair could be loaded and unloaded using a ramp.

Good thinking! She could have been taken to the lockup under some pretext of helping him get something out, like a suitcase, telling her she's going to need it to go away somewhere else for a few weeks, and then he's pounced and strangled her and put her in the suitcase. Maybe the time he spent there before picking her up was actually creating some space, stacking things up, to walk in behind all the junk and do the deed. And in his haste and pre-occupation he didn't notice her putting her bag down. Perhaps SaW just assumed her bag would naturally be in the car because she knew Bee hadn't run away, but she never checked what ScW did with it. It would be an unusual detail for ScW to have phoned and said 'I've done it and I've got her bag in the car'.

There was this unusual detail in the missing report.

She may have changed into a black dress and some fishnets as these were found to be missing from her home

which was updated in a later article to -

Sarah's family originally believed Bernadette may have had additional clothing with her but have since found the missing items under her bed, so she would have been wearing all black with a denim jacket on.

I wonder if police ever checked these items were in the home, because I'm thinking SaW might have dressed her in them to bury her, going along with my thinking that she attended the burial and had some input in how it was done. Police probably wouldn't even know what black dress to look for, it was so non-specific.

Maybe Scott kept it to use as some kind of defense? Like to say "See Sarah was the one who threatened her!"?

Thats a possibility.

I think they had every intention of hiding the abuse allegations, deleting Bee's and SaW's texts, but they realised it would come out anyway because Bee's friend knew and SaW's efforts to convince her friends she had been lying wouldn't make it go away, so ScW decided to bite the bullet and tell police when they came to the house.

Hi everyone, this is my first time posting but I've been reading these threads for a while now and it is utterly shocking what happened to poor BW.

I had a thought regarding the body disposal site.
It would be interesting to know where SaW grandmother is buried because she posted that oddly timed Instagram post saying how much she missed her grandmother - i think it was posted on the 19th July (sorry can't remember the exact date but know it was in the immediate days following BW's disappearance).
One of you very cleverly said that BW may have been buried within the grounds of a church and something just made my mind go back to SaW grandma.
It seems like SaW has given us little breadcrumbs throughout, albeit, unintentionally and perhaps this could be yet another.

Maybe by burying BW in the same area as a family relative it gave SaW some kind of closure or like she was "looking after her princess". The psychology behind this stuff is fascinating.

Sorry, these are just my late night ramblings.
MOO.

I believe SaW was originally from South Yorkshire. There has been absolutely no mention of any of her family in this story. Before she changed to Walker by Deed Poll, she was Padley, as were the older kids. There is only one other Padley, who I'll not name, who occasionally commented on SaW's Instagram posts. I've no idea what brought her to Peterborough but she appears to have no family connection to the town.

I think it was either in the car or at the lock up.
