He really would be best off staying off social media right now, some awful rumours online.

I can see why he is retaliating but he would preserve his sanity more by keeping well away.

I agree. I think he was in shock. He said he'd just got up and found out.

Yeah, he isn't giving a great impression threatening people with violence. Emotions are high I understand that, no one should have to deal with the death of a child or children :(

How long do police have to question arrestees before they have to charge or release?

If this took place in America (as it does, as it does) no one would bat an eye. Sad.
Believe me, they do bat an eye in America when children get killed.

what could have happened
those poor kids

I can honestly say in all the years I have been on Websleuths, I have never seen a more hateful post

24 hours but they can ask for extensions up to 96 hours.

I think the first extension can be granted by LE (taking it to 48 hours) after that it's a magistrate that authorise any further extensions.

I ... am ... wondering

IF this was in any way planned ... I could definitely see Mum telling friends 'the kids are ill' and telling the older children they were having a sneaky day off .. 'just tell your mates you're feeling sick'

I'm REALLY keen to know, who called police??

On a side note - it has faffed me right off - when this story broke, how many knuckle daggers were spouting the 'bet its muslims/terror related' crap on social media!
They did the same with Alesha Macphail and had convinced themselves that because police weren't immediately naming the suspect it was a 'cover up to protect the refugee what done it' ... if you see this rubbish or hear it, correct them - if living children are involved - police don't tell all to protect those children, even if that child is the perpetrator.

I'm presuming they've been charged with murder but it doesn't actually confirm what the charges are, which I find strange.

UPDATE: Two people arrested on Friday 24 May from a house in Shiregreen have now been charged and will appear at Sheffield Magistrates Court on Monday 27 May.

Really can't imagine what happened here. They're certainly managing to keep the details secret.

This is all I've seen about the call:

Speaking earlier, Supt Paul McCurry said it was "too early to tell what the injuries are".

We received an independent call for assistance to come to this road . Police officers responded and as a result the tragic events unfolded for our officers. As you can appreciate we are supporting some of our officers who had to respond to this location.

Those poor poor children. I'm actually dreading finding out what happened to them.
I wonder will the public get more details tomorrow after those two appear in court?

The relative is at it again.
Sheffield Now

I don't think his comments will stay up long.
The only cases I followed proper in the UK was Ian Huntley and Dale Cregan. There were no details until the trial started.

From your link -

The woman has also been charged with three counts of attempted murder.
That is just beyond horrific. I was hoping it had been an accident or anything else really. What kind of motive did they have, I cannot understand someone wanting to murder their children :(

I find this baffling. Both charged on two counts of murder. Woman charged on three counts of attempted murder. Four "rescued" children. Was one child unharmed? Did the man only have involvement in the harm of the two children who passes away? All so confusing. These cases are always unfathomable at best but this case is quite baffling.

Still no word on the “serious incident”?

I would speculate that they started with the older children and perhaps the police arrive before they got to the baby?
