What terrible news to see this morning.

Why didnt they get a friend to accompany Caroline if they felt they needed to ask her to leave the club !

Oh how sad. Poor Caroline - Bless her soul. What a terrible outcome. Thoughts with her loved ones.

I am hoping this will turn out to be a tragic accident.

Looking at google street view of this little river makes me wonder otherwise though.

How so? I haven't looked at Google Street view for this yet, does it look difficult to 'fall' into?

On one side of the road/bridge it seems to be well protected by barriers and quite an open area possibly with shops.

The other side of the road/bridge has a wall and looks like a very shrubby area. Not somewhere one would wander accidently imo. Hope it was an accident.

It's also in the exact opposite direction from where she lived. The halls of residence are about a mile east of the club but the brook is about the same in the westerly direction. Although it's hard to see exactly where the brook runs to after the part where she was found, it doesn't look like there are any access points on her route home, or any rational alternative route home.

I don't think that it's in the opposite direction to where she lived is too telling.

We have assumed that after leaving the club, she would head home but who knows, she may have been heading to a fast food place, heading to a friend's place, or even just knowing where the heck she was ...

Summerfield Street, Sheffield. It's called a "brook" I think, but there is a road bridge over it.

Have to wonder what info the police had for them to be looking here, in the opposite direction from where Caroline lived ..... and to be searching a small brook ?
I'm thinking that she was seen heading in that direction on cctv.

Let's hope we hear soon what the circumstances are.

As a parent I don't know which I'd find most difficult to cope with.

I've noticed 'the friends' getting some stick for Caroline ending up alone ... no one can control their friends though and in a club situation it's so easy to lose your mates - it doesn't usually end in tragedy thankfully

IMO only, I can see if one sat on the low wall roadside it might be possible to fall back into the brook I suppose.

Good point. And at 3:45am?

It is the total opposite direction from her house and not in the slightest an "obvious" river to fall in to. Looking at the pictures it's not somewhere she'd be walking to get home, neither is the bridge an easy one to fall over. Hella confused about why she was even there, unless she knew someone that lived in any of the nearby flats.

Sad news, RIP Caroline :(

Sad news. If she was ejected from the club on her own I hope lessons are learned and that steps are taken to make sure no other vulnerable person is left in that situation again.

Awful news :(

I've updated the map

I don't quite understand, opposite direction from home, and an odd place to be found. How was she found at 3.45am? Member of the public? Maybe she wandered in the wrong direction, or went to someone elses home.

RIP Caroline :rose:
