Found Deceased UK - Caroline Everest, 18, Sheffield, 22 Nov 2015

In the news article about the October attacks (both near Tank nightclub and both between 2am and 3am) there are two different descriptions. Awful to think there could be a pair of sex attackers working together but the police aren't linking them. Who knows...?

But again If this man they have arrested has committed a "suppose rape" - if he was the man seen with her on CCTV then he has not done a lot to cover his tracks he has underestimated the fact that he will be recognised on CCTV

In my experience of this website, particularly in recent weeks, it turns out that many rapists and murderers are really rather stoopid.

Thats true it would be interested to know if any witnesses who live in that area might have heard or seen something?

I'd really like to know exactly what happened in the Club prior to Caroline "leaving". I'm having a hard time believing that a Bouncer would remove her from the Club without her coat especially when it's cold. I'm having a hard believing that if she was so drunk to be removed that a Bouncer didn't ask her if she was with someone, etc. etc. Was she just drunk or behaving badly? Why did they remove her or is this not true?

What happened in the Club?! I think it's important.

Was she intentionally split off from her friends and slipped something in her drink? Toxicology takes a long time to get results. This could still be the case. I had something slipped into my drink on New Year's once. Surprisingly I actually remember the feeling of not feeling. Luckily I was with friends and they took me to a hospital. I was right out of it, but I remember it. I would have done anything, and gone anywhere and didn't care. Someone could have done whatever they wanted to me and I would never have had the ability to fight back. I was gone.

Was she so drunk or drugged that she was incapable of caring for herself and if so was somebody watching and opportunistically assisted Caroline in some way?

Lots of questions and scenarios and very few answers.

Suicide? No
Falling over the railing? I don't think so. I would think that if she fell then the PM would have shown that.

Is there an easier was to get to where she was found? Could she have been raped there and left there? Just because she is seen on CCTV "after parting ways" with the male, doesn't mean that he didn't double back or come at her from another angle which was out of CCTV range. LE spent some time looking in the bushed and searching.

Horrible outcome nonetheless. I was so hoping that it would be an accident. To hear of rape is heartbreaking.

She wasn't wearing a coat hun, just a black dress & a cardigan. I rarely see girls in coats when out clubbing though to be honest!

I agree just because they were both seen parting ways, it doesn't mean he didn't catch up with her or follow her from another angle that wasn't caught on any cctv.

Horrible outcome either way! I have a slight feeling it isn't going to be an accident how she actually ended up where she did though, as the railing/wall just seems too high to accidentally fall over, drunk or not.

You would think even at 3am, someone in studentville will have been out on the balcony having a smoke. This is why I'm thinking about the use of a car. If there is no more footage of her walking from A to B (bearing in mind there are LOADS of business premises and new built flats with cameras) she must have got in a vehicle. Perhaps we have only been told about the important bits, but as they're asking the public for info maybe they can't see her anywhere else.

On the front of the HP building on Summerfield there's a large hi tech looking camera (I think that's what it is, the white thing?) which I imagine is the one which caught Caroline on film. I wonder if it covers the bridge. Maybe the police know exactly how she ended up in the water, maybe that's why the man has "only" been charged with rape and not on suspicion of causing her death.

Lots of wonderings and maybes. Time for bed!

Im thinking he has only been arrested on suspicion of rape because signs of rape showed up in the autopsy, but the cause of her actual death didn't, as it was inconclusive. So "suspicion of rape" is the only thing they have to go on at the mo. Hopefully more tests will reveal how exactly she died.

Time for bed myself, I think! [emoji285][emoji287][emoji286] (I always tell myself this, yet end up scrolling through this very addictive forum for the next hour or so!)

Philip Chism springs to mind immediately (Colleen Ritzer rape and murder). He passed countless times by CCTV cameras, sometimes masking his face, sometimes not, sometimes with blood on him, then clean and in different clothes. It would be funny if it wasn't so sad. He probably thought he was very clever.

yeah i mean if she already had too much to drink before being chucked out by the bouncer why did her friends not leave as well normally if someone is chucked out of the club the people their with are normally leave as well unless she spoke to them and told them she was going straight home - but she went on to another pub
as for a coat? I don't think she had one with her that night but it would have been very cold by the time she left the club she was wearing a skirt as well it's interesting to know how long she would have spent outside in the cold after she left the pub

And as for some bouncers, some just don't care if im honest..

As long as you're not absolutely intoxicated/causing trouble/fighting in the club they're bouncing on, as far as their concerned, you're out of their hands. Ive seen it plenty of times when out & about.. a girl being kicked out alone & the bouncers just send her on her way without even asking if she's okay or how she's getting home because they're not their to babysit every single person. As long as she's no longer their problem, they don't care. Sad really. X

It's a good job these people muck it all up cos they get caught! Pacteau and Matthews/Hoare spring immediately to mind. "Let's go shopping for a circular saw / barrel / clingfilm / acid / drain cleaner (*delete as applicable) somewhere where there's defo CCTV and loads of people. Doh!

The other pub was already closed when she was seen outside it. It had closed almost two hours earlier.

Sometimes, no matter how cold it is outside, If she was in fact drinking, sometimes you don't feel the cold as much as you would if you were sober.

I agree. I think the clubs should be made to take some responsibility for their customers safety somehow, perhaps by agreement with a cab firm. Or hire a mini bus driver for the night to ferry people about. There must be a better way than letting people walk off alone. Male or female.

I also think it should be absolutely drummed into young people about staying with friends. Maybe some phone app where if they check into it together at the start of a night it sends an alert if they get too far apart and automatically track whoever's wandered off.

(If there already is an app that does this it needs to be heavily advertised cos in my head I've just invented it lol!)

so that's of like the best part of 2 hours out in the cold before she was last seen on CCTV which might look like at some point she got into a vehicle

Good invention you have there [emoji6]!

It is easier said than done if you're all having a good time drinking though sadly..

It's easy enough to just lose a friend without realising if you're in a packed nightclub having a good time. Most people would just think they've either gone the toilet or to the bar. Or even out for a cigarette.

Ive lost friends in bars before, most the time they're at the bar or dancing with people they've bumped in to or randoms they've met that night! One minute they're there, the next their not. Scary how alcohol can change your behaviour & state of mind!

I would never let a friend actually leave to go home by herself though! Id either go with her or make sure she got in to a taxi at the very least.

Too right they don't want to take responsibility for young people drinking but I think there is a taxi stop just near where she left the club if only she got a cab and went straight home!! there is always black cabs about in city centres but most people don't want to ripped of by cab fair prices I suppose

when I use to go out in Manchester for a night out I made sure I was in a good state to get home because I lived 6 miles south of Manchester centre so you always had that journey in mind

yeah sometimes you still feel a lot warmer from being inside a club/bar for a few hours but the longer your outside the cold you can get go colder but it depends how long your out on the streets between leaving club getting in taxi and going home

When I lived in Leeds centre and I'd got a bit jaded being out a lot, I often used to say "just nipping to the loo" and go straight home - it avoided the guilt trip of people making me stay out when I really just wanted a good cuppa and a sit down lol! However, I ALWAYS texted when I got back a few minutes later saying "I went to the loo at home, haha, night!".

its hard to imagine all the nights out i had in Manchester there is a "pusher" lurking in the backgrounds waiting for another victim
