I might not have done a very good job with the search but I did try putting in "Potter Brook Death" into Google and setting it for results at least one year old. I couldn't find any hits, so it doesn't seem to me that it's common for people to slip in there to their deaths.

Sometimes I do wounder where these places like that get names like "Potter Brook Death"

LOL I'm sorry. I put in the correct name in the search, and the wrong name here! The results I was getting were for the correct brook that runs through Sheffield, unfortunately it was a few days ago and I forgot to report back here until now... what with sleeping since then and suffering some heavy migraine activity, I just got the name wrong when I posted here today.

I'm sorry for the confusion, it was definitely the correct one that I put in the search box.

My point was that while there's a first time for everything, it doesn't seem to be a common thing to happen in that brook.

that is interesting that accidental deaths is not a common theme in that area especially with a student accommodation in the area you would think their might have been a bit more accidents - I guess it's just a waiting game now on hearing what the outcome of the PM there has not been anymore information released as so far

Honestly, can anyone imagine what it would be like trying to hold every drunk person from leaving and try to get a cab company to drive them against their will, what if someone argued that they didn't want the cab and therefore didn't want to pay? That cab company wouldn't keep coming around very long.

I would also add that many taxi drivers will refuse to take someone who is too drunk, apparently due to the high cost of cleaning the taxi if the person is sick. It unfortunately could leave someone in a vulnerable situation but I can understand it from the driver's point of view. I'm also a great believer in personal responsibility but I have done some very stupid things and got away with it. Luck has a big part to play, too.

In the area I'm from the club owners have a transport shuttle bus that will take people to their homes (within a certain mileage range of course). I always thought this was a very responsible position for the owners to assume. If not something like providing safe transportation, at the very least they can ensure that the person is not thrown out alone. I'm afraid I just don't understand the thinking behind throwing a person that is too drunk to stay inside, out into the streets to fend for themselves. In my opinion the bartenders share the responsibility with the patron on limiting the amount of alcohol that is consumed. What with all the drownings around the pubs there you would think that allowing them to stay without further drinking would be the best thing to do. Unless of course they're uncontrollable, but then I would think the police would be the route to go in that case. However, the club probably would not want to involve the police because that could lead to trouble for the club owners if it becomes known that they served the patron too much alcohol.

we still don't know the reason why she was excorted out of the club by a bouncer and why her friend said she went into a room?
As what we know she was only alone when she left the man she was last on CCTV - he if he was not involved in her death should he not have let her walk in that direction alone she was heading where they found her

I do not think a shuttle ride home has been introduced in the UK a good idea but people can not be trusted to behave when waiting for taxes and buses fights have happened on buses late at night because of drunkeness antics etc

I thino local councils would be put of the idea

In a busy crowded club, the bar staff can only control the situation up to a point. All they can do is refuse to serve the individual. That won't prevent other people obtaining drinks for him/her. And it's quite common for clubbers to smuggle in their own drinks in hip flasks or similar.

Its also the responsibility of the Individual to make sure they know their limits on how much they drink and when enough is enough

Never less it's still a dumb idea to put an intoxicated young woman out on the streets alone. I don't know for sure but I would think she had a friend there that could of made sure she got home safe. A young woman alone at night is never a good idea is it.. A drunk one alone at night is just asking for trouble.

we don't exactly know if she was intoxicated or drugged - she spent nearly an hour after leaving the club with a male so up until that point she was not on her own
But I think when she left the club at 02:40am maybe that was the time for her friend in the club to leave too but maybe she had trouble contacting her at that time plenty of people leave clubs and get separated from their friends and don't think much of it, the simple thing for her to do was get in a taxi and go straight home but We know from the information where ever she was heading was not going home

Look at post 15 on the first page of this thread it was not a Facebook post it was something a witness told the police !!

Comment 15 says that a comment was made on the police facebook page - it doesn't say that the police made that comment so it's still classed as gossip isn't it?

If we haven't been told by the Police that Caroline was 'escorted/kicked out' out of the club then we can't assume that that's true can we? Or that she went/was taken into some 'staff area' ...

It might just be gossip and proven wrong - but at the same time nobody who has so far has ruled that out wether it's true or not, I just don't know about that myself I have witness though myself bouncers becoming heavy handed - there has been no more mention of it, its all just hearsay at the moment, before Caroline was found there was a lot of mention of the room she was suppose to have gone in but again someone who works says there was no room like that? and maybe a friend at the club that night got that wrong 2 conflicting accounts there ������
