It is now six years since Claudia Lawrence disappeared without trace in York. Despite the intensive efforts of the police, the resolve of her heart-broken family and saturated media coverage, her sudden disappearance remains a mystery.

North Yorkshire Police's commitment and determination to solve the case and bring closure for Claudia's loved-ones, is undiminished by the passage of time.

Detective Superintendent Dai Malyn, head of the force's enhanced Major Crime Unit, is leading a comprehensive review of the original investigation.

This has been supported by national experts from other forces and agencies, including forensic specialists who recently completed a re-examination of Claudia's home on Heworth Road in York.

As a result of this work, Det Supt Malyn and his team have identified new lines of enquiry and fresh public appeals to pursue, as well as renewed appeals on previous key items of interest to the investigation.

Detective Chief Superintendent Simon Mason, Head of Crime for North Yorkshire Police, said: "The decision to focus and prioritise the efforts of the enhanced Major Crime Unit on this case and undertake a comprehensive review of the original investigation, is producing progressive results which we expect to continue over time."

On your recommendation I've watched two parts tonight. I never saw it advertised. It is scary how much corruption went on and unbelievable how an officer could take a statement from a suspect who was his friend and go on to take the place of the victim in the business. Some aspects of it was similar to Claudia's case. Arrogant men being arrested and released without charge.

It gets much more interesting in promme 3 and then there are the updates elewhere on the internet but I wont spoil for anyone who hasnt watched it yet it by commenting further.

As an aside and since The news of the world newspaper was mentioned big time in the show... an unrelated matter came to my mind: Does anyone else remember the Psychic that used the name Dana or Dayana in the middle pages of TNOTW
Where she described in detail with sketches , how she saw 2 planes flying into 2 tall buildings at the same time poss two three years before 9/11 ?
Did the newspaper know something before hand ?
Was it a subliminal message to whoever would “pick up”?
Was it a dream that came true and in that case why not brag about it forevermore afterwards?
Can anyone produce such a copy ( of the notw) or able to check the archives !

reports are coming in of a large number of arrests of mr bigs in organised crime which has tentacles across the country.....who knows, we might eventually get fallout that will help solve the question of what happened to claudia.

just as a side note...though I dont suppose its got any relevance....after galloway left the claudia case he went to help out with the jimmy Savile investigation.

the last time I looked, there was a list of places where there had been raids...york wasn't there.

but, of course we dont know where the people arrested come from.

as far as I can tell, I think our Heworth lot aren't big enough fish to be included at the moment....although they could have got their drugs and taken their orders from these people.

just checked the York newspapers online and they seem to think that the local link to York came via the north east....which is a bit odd as there were major centres in Derbys, notts and Birmingham....but, for example they said that the lot in Derbys had strong links with luton, so it may be based on personal connections, rather than geographical proximity.



over...ive just thought....claudias boyfriend in Newcastle....probably just a coincidence.......

im not accusing Claudius Newcastle boyfriend of being involved in drugs...I dont know anything about him......but it does make you wonder how they met and if the trips to see each other were purely about their relationship
