I don't think that cctv was provided so we have to take the police's word on it.
Re the Astra, I wondered if they were more interested in the guy next to the Astra as a possible witness to any noise further up Heworth Road. Not sure if he ever came forward.

Thats a shame I was hoping to see if the car in front of the truck was more visible or if that had moved off too do you have any info on that vehicle at all
Re white astra van to me there seems to be some figures at the back of the van who have been smudged out I havent done any work on those but I picked up some figures at the passenger side.

Would it make sense for CL, to choose - in secret - predominantly married men to the advantage for someone (the real "dream man"), who blackmailed these independent business people afterwards?

Do you mean was Claudia acting as a honey trap?

Something like that, yes.
Result of her choosing married men would be: nobody would talk, because of the wifes and the businesses. Even CL's friends wouldn't talk so much, only maybe off the record, because they didn't know enough about her tens of affairs, as stated by them.

@FromGermany
I'm not sure if it was as sophisticated as that. I think her choices were part of the lifestyle she led (job history, relationship history, self esteem). I was going to add 'where she chose to live' but really it was 'where she chose to socialise' that mattered. I'm sure there are plenty of single women her age then, living in Heworth, who wouldn't touch the NH with a barge pole. Perhaps the things in brackets limited her opportunities to meet more suitable men. Or maybe she was perfectly happy with this lifestyle?

its hard to say....she was very keen on dan, so maybe she was afraid of being rejected again.

but, even if you're going to limit yourselves to affairs with married men, im. sure there are better options than the nags.

can't fathom it unless she had an hour with a psychologist....unable to compete with her sister or just enjoying living that way

she may have been used as a honey pot.....its also possible the community. was involved in amateur 🤬🤬🤬🤬 films, as the major suggested...but have we got any evidence of that

I think people here and outside WS are inflating the number of married men.
People could be separated for years but technically still married.
Men probably conveniently forget to mention that bit .

if, as reported, she was thinking of. trying to get back together with dan, its likely that she was tiring of the casual affairs...whether with married men or not.

The family (sister/father) have accepted she was playing with fire. Looks like there was a scene in the Nag's Head.
'Jealous partner' theory on missing Claudia
I read somewhere that there had been 2 scenes in the pub, one occurred quite soon before her disappearance but PL refused to provide further comment. Did it happen on the Cheltenham weekend?

Here's the article:
Claudia Lawrence: One year on
Asked if there were rows in the pub, he went on: “Probably more of an awkward situation than a confrontation.”
He said one situation happened a long time ago and another was “more recent” but would not give details.

I think its clear that claudia had affairs, one night stands etc. with men she knew to be married or in long term relationships, but how many of those there were, I can't say.

there are also the categories popejohn mentioned....which might. affect your. opinion of claudia, but. wouldn't rule. out the possibility of a scene or an atmosphere in the nags.

as it was a big weekend in the. nags the. weekend before claudia disappeared, I suppose there were more wives and girlfriends there than usual...so a bigger chance of this being the reason why claudia kept away from the nags immediately afterwards.

but all we can do is bear this in mind

You think, Claudia didn't know, they were still married because they lied to her?

If they were only just married "on paper", the men wouldn't have had to fear a big scandal. They didn't need to rush to police for a secret statement, after Claudia's disappearing. Maybe, several men wouldn't have to remain uncooperative with police, if there were no wives/long term girlfriends/children affected. Who knows.

If Claudia had affairs with let's say 5 married men, I would claim it absolutely a bad pattern, IMO. Not important for people here and outside WS, when it were indeed 10 or 20 - if Claudia hadn't been abducted and probably murdered and people here and outside WS would search for the perpetrator since 11 years between the mannny (partly married/allied) suspects. MOO

I think she knew and didnt care. I think they didnt care because they couldnt believe their luck.

And when it hit the fan, they couldnt run quickly enough from the situation with not a thought of doing the right thing to help find her.

And we can't blame SC and JK for being influencers since she had her first fling at a young age.

the big problem with claudia is that we haven't got anyone whose word we can trust.
id have thought that, as far as men who drank in the nags were concerned, she could have found out if shed tried...unless some people found it a great joke to lie to her....maybe sc would have tried to warn her, but if claudia was drunk, would she have listened.

as for men outside the nags, I couldn't say.

I know. her first fling was with a married man, but was he together with his wife when the affair started.

from what people have said, she seemed to enjoy the power

to be honest, from what we know she didn't seem to be keen to break up with someone when she found out they were married but nor did she pine when they broke up with her....but we dont have any objective accounts.

it still seems to me that there was something missing in her emotional makeup.

I know someone with mild learning difficulties whose beloved pet cat was run over when she was 5....her parents dreaded telling her....but it was water off a ducks back....well just have to get. another one

1) He lived with his long term partner with a young child. They are still together.
2) Agree re her attitude towards married/taken males but by all accounts, many relationships were brief flings.
