It should be easy to find - the top left window is uncommon in the area - its quite small - there's that tree to the left too...

I'd noticed that window too. Could be a bathroom window, it looks a bit frosted or am I imagining it? Guessing it's a smaller version of the typical houses round there, maybe a 2 bed?

Bathroom window - it is frosted and you can see shower gel/shampoo bottles on the window sill

Yes, it's a bathroom and it's just a single pane whereas others in similar houses in the area are double.
There's also a large white house in the background.

What number is Claudia's house please?

  • #407
So. It's a neighbour, within 100 yards, or within half a mile depending which news station you believe.
Semi detached house in a cul de sac, probably no34, with a detached green garage.

Come on sleuthers, I wanna hear a BINGO!

Arrrghhhh, driving me mad, feel like jumping in the car and going for a look!
Have any of you found it yet?

On streetview the pic of the house seems to match the houses directly opposite Claudias house...

  • #409
Hmm same style but no exact match... must be close by.

Unfortunately not, the doors and window styles are different. Ah been virtually driving around for the last 2 hours. Problem is that no one street has uniform houses - a few styles here, another there

Lots of houses with similar doors around Bad Bargain Way and Burnholme Grove...

I think it's quite quaint but one thing about York is the council houses are all mixed in here and there with private houses and streets. Some are ex council too and by looking at them it can be hard to tell. We do have council 'estates' but they are pretty small and even then plonked in between non council areas. The house in question I don't think is council, it could be ex council, it's hard to say. But there are a lot of council houses in and just to the south/west/East of Claudius street.

For me that made it extra hard to find. And I still have had no luck finding it. I'll look again tomorrow.

Daily mail are reporting that it's down a cul de sac with 10 houses. However- all of the papers are now saying "in another part of york" so perhaps it's more further afield than we thought

Okay so I got a be in my bonnet and have spent hours searching for the property (I will be mighty annoyed if it was right under my nose and I over looked it).

I searched in a 1/2 miles to 1 1/2 miles radius of Claudia house looking for a cul de sac with around 10 properties. Nada. In fact there are very few with that number of properties, most tend to have a fair few more.

I've had a trawl through all of the articles relating to yday arrest and any sm I could find and haven't had a whiff of a street name or area for that matter, mentioned. In fact most articles as I said last night say "in another area of York"

Confusing or what? Another area of York does not, to me at least, imply somewhere which is only half a mile form Claudia house. So one of the descriptions is wrong and at this point I'm willing to guess that it's the 1/2 mile theory as I just cannot find anything locally that matches

There are hundreds of houses like that in York, especially on the TangHall estate which is next to Heworth, where Claudia lived. The house search is meant to take several days so presumably people will see police there. I'm 5 mins walk from Claudia's house , over on Dodsworth Ave and I haven't seen anything up this end.

I was looking on streetview last night for a couple of hours and there are tons of houses similar to the one shown in every direction radiating out from Heworth Road. There are streets/areas where it's half similar architecture then changes to another type or different door/porch shape on the same street. It would be alot easier someplace like London to find it due to the fact it has such a broad scope of architectural types.

Google Earth is useless for pinpointing as the sat imaging for York is very poor quality too. Still messing/looking but...Needs a lucky break or a systematic search pattern done by a few people.

Yep I did take a closer look around the TangHall estate as they seemmed to most closely resemble the property.

Even if you widened the distance between Claudia and the arrested property to 2 miles, 2 square miles isn't a huge area so shouldn't be this hard to find
