Hi all. Thread's gone very quiet - have we run out of ideas / thoughts / ramblings / suspicions?? Anyone still working on it behind the scenes?

  • #1,262
Still dipping in now and then but as you say, no new information and the internet seems to have been cleaned up so it's difficult to follow up leads through that channel.

"been cleaned up"? What's been removed?

Hi all. Thread's gone very quiet - have we run out of ideas / thoughts / ramblings / suspicions?? Anyone still working on it behind the scenes?

I wouldn't know what to work on, if somebody is dead and many people are singing only the praises (not on WS :)).

A man who has never been married, has no children, but is responsible for the lifelong care of the mother and the brother who has some of a disability, a man who goes in and out by the family of his brother all like a second husband and a second father, a man who is not satisfied with a full-time job, but does other jobs as well, a man who earns more and more money with the buying and selling of self restored / renovated houses - this man is really something special, IMO.
That doesn't mean he is capable of murder, but he maybe capable of behaving weird or difficult re women. He seems to have been a friendly quiet coeval. I rather think he was efficient but certainly had quirks.
If I were to inherit maybe 1/4 of his assets, I would also shut my mouth and wouldn't talk about some bad/odd behavior or some inconsistencies. Perhaps I wouldn't even think about this.
Nobody is only friendly and always with 100% good character and sacrifices himself for everyone. Sometimes still waters run deep. I don't know if this is the case, but I suspect a connection somehow. Perhaps it went for money and not for love - or both. Perhaps there was an "accident" and he reacted cowardly. :dunno:

P.S.: Perhaps the photo of him has been taken in the wrong second only. But I don't like his look/his eyes. (If I can describe the look, I'll do it.) Only this for now: I do not think his eyes are inspiring confidence and the photo doesn't match the character description of his nieces, sorry, IMO.

The many leads which were hinted at in the media this year following the arrests, which some websleuths were able to decode.

Many many years ago, when I was a young wife, my husband had met a man in the pub and brought him home. When this man walked into our livingroom I immediately had a huge disgust of this man. Never before I felt like this. I believe all my hairs were put upright within that second. I didn't know why; I only had a very bad feeling as if the man would pollute my apartment with his presence. I asked my husband, this guy n-e-v-e-r bring back.

Sometime later I heard this man had been caught stealing and was sentenced to prison. My gut feeling was right. I still think at this man with disgust.

http://www.yorkpress.co.uk/news/453...d_owner_of_houses_in_Claudia_Lawrence_search/

An inquest has been opened and adjourned into his death (RC) which is not being treated as suspicious, and a toxicology report is currently being prepared.

Did anyone hear/read something of a possible result?

-.-.-.-.-.-

.... he was a personable chap, but he kept his own life to himself.

“At work, he was outgoing, popular and a bit of a joker.* He had a real passion for his job – he used to bring sandwiches in and sell them even though you weren’t really supposed to.**
... described him as a “workaholic” who bought properties to let before it became common practice. He also had a night job, cleaning railway carriages at York Station.**

“I would never have thought Richard could have any aggression in him towards anybody and I can’t believe he would ever be involved in something like this ...***

* I know from family: this guys have more problems than others.
** I know from close acquaintance (he doesn't know that I know :)): Who is behind the money in such way, also usually has a great psychological problem.
*+**= *** They are masters of hiding their true character and their severe problems.

BREAKING Claudia Lawrence: Four suspects re-bailed

Four men who were arrested on suspicion of murdering York chef Claudia Lawrence have been re-bailed.

All of the men are aged in their 50s and from the York area.

One was arrested on March 23 this year and three were arrested on April 22.

Police say enquiries are continuing, and have strongly advised people not to identify the men to ensure the investigation and legal process are not compromised or potentially damaged in any way.

Anyone with information that could assist the investigation should contact North Yorkshire Police on 101, select option 1, and pass details to the Force Control Room.

I was going to ask the same thing.... I have no idea. Re bailed? What does that even mean? Was there a date their bail ran out?

found this explanation of bail and re-bail.......

There are, therefore, principally two common types of bail: firstly when the defendant is bailed without charge, the police will allow the defendant to leave the police station, usually under certain restrictions or conditions, and the defendant will be given a bail return date to return to the police station.

During the period in which the defendant is on bail, the police will carry out their investigations and then decide if the defendant will be charged when he returns for the bail return date.

At this point, the defendant will either be charged or be told that no further action is to be taken.

It has, however, become more common for police offices to bail the defendant again, once he returns for the bail return date, and continue investigations. Increasingly, therefore, a defendant can be on pre-charge bail for a number of months before discovering if they are to be charged.

Secondly, a defendant may be bailed once he has been charged with an offence.

This implies (IMO) that the police think at least one of these men is guilty and at least one of the others either knows or is an accessory. Whether or not they will ever find enough evidence to convict someone or whether they will ever find Claudia is another thing, time passes by..........

What is life like in a city, where a young woman has been missing for 6 years and someone is under suspicion? I imagine a lot of whispering, rumors, suppositions, suspicions, separations of couples, divorces possibly.

  • #1,274
Also - the thought that there is someone out there going about their normal daily routines who has this dark secret. Yet their anonymity ensures that others around them who are not part of their inner circle could be in close contact with a murderer.

If I had a social life FG I might be able to shed some light on that, but I don't lol I live across the other side of the city now and I've never heard anyone even mention Claudia when I have been out and about.

PS. Ellie, thank you for the bail info! :)

UK police arrest first and ask questions later.

They have more powers than US police.

See Joanne Yates where neighbor 1 was arrested but neighbor 2 ended up being charged.

All they need to arrest is SUSPICION.

These guys may not even be the ones.

rbbm.

You could be right!
After everyone's life has no doubt been turned upside down and inside out, there may be some little sob laughing him/herself to death and thinking they got away with murder- because so far they have!
Any students, local or otherwise, from the university where CL worked, acting differently, either for the better or worse since she vanished?
speculation, imo.

Any lecturers or profs began to drink more than normal or similar? Or saved their critical marriage on last second? Suicide/Heart Attack somewhere? (Sorry.)
Of course: my speculation too.

"We encourage everybody in the community, whether it be ordinary members of the community, people within the criminal community, this is a really, really tragic case and we ask everybody to get behind the police."

The case has nothing to do with case Sonia. I only find the invocation in the newspapers interesting and perhaps worthy of imitation.
