Not that anyone was looking for them on the 31st December but how did she manage to withdraw £4,000 ?
I once needed 2 and had to explain myself at the counter which was embarrassing in front of other people . You can't withdraw those amounts at an ATM .
You can ask for a temporary increase in daily limits for certain purchases or situations. I have had to do that several times when paying for expensive purchases, like my hearing aids. The bank has increased my daily limit up to 5k for a 24-hour period in this time.

Ah yes, was forgetting about the 2k going up in smoke. Anybody have any thoughts on a 2k withdrawal when they weren't expecting for their vehicle to go up in flames? To pay for accomodation in cash? To last them a good amount of time so they wouldn't need to withdraw more and be traced?

Interesting that they also made three withdrawals from the same convenience store ATM on the day they were arrested.

Somewhere in one of her statements, CM said she tried to get more than 2K, but was not able to…..I think she meant the system wouldnt allow any more in that withdrawl/on that day.
At that point, pre fire, although they were not being sought, I think the plan was still to stock up on cash and keep a low profile.

Incense, Cornettos, Airbnb's, cheap cars that light themselves on fire, extensive taxi journeys, bags for life.

Not secure housing, warm baby clothing, formula, personal hygiene...

MOO
Yes, it seems they hadn’t heard of Maslow’s Hierarchy of needs.

Edit: Although JMOO, but actually having worked with SS in a placement, they may well have heard of it and simply chosen not to act upon on it for themselves or their child.

They both say a lot of stuff. I don’t believe any of it.

Did you have to give prior notice to withdraw so much cash ?

Many branches don’t have huge sums cash. This is why they request larger withdrawals to be pre-arranged.

So , even CM's bank contacted her on the 6th January out of concern after she'd asked for more allowance from the trust I'm reading on Sky News tonight .What were they doing with the money ? Saving it ? She did have £19,000 in her Metro bank?

I have to call and if it is within business hours, the limit changes that moment.
With my hearing aids, I did not think about daily limits when paying, and had to call the bank in the hearing aid office to get my daily limit extended temporarily. The bank person said it could be done at that moment and would expire in 24 hours. I hung up, tried my card again and it went through.

I guess it depends on where you live. When I did it, it was in Canada.

Four grand is A LOT for one of those peugeots. I looked at Facebook marketplace a while back to see if I could find the one they bought, and most were in the hundreds not the thousands.

And they obviously bought a crap one!

Did they get scammed on that too?

I wonder if police have located the seller? Will that be evidence? A witness?
Likely she just said she needed £4k but it cost a lot less

If that's the case then even more mysterious where the money is going because a week later they took out another 2k.

Did she say “that’s why we were in Manchester”. So she could use Metro Bank. She must have withdrawn over the counter then. Maybe more cctv to see some point.

I’d never heard of Metro Bank myself. It’s a high st retail banking model. New age banking. “The first new high street bank in 100 years”. They have some drive thru’s in some locations. It’s situated in the Arndale centre in Manchester.

Only two of them operating in the north west are that one and Liverpool looking at their store list. None any further north.

Edit by me. Spelling error corrected

Will we hear from social work during this trial?

There's quite a gap between Metro Bank and Hoare & co.

Convenience. Ready cash. Open all hours.

And then there's Metro Bank!

According to the Google reviews, one of the big draws of Metro Bank is that they offer Safe Deposit Boxes.

I checked timings for the bank

Bank opening times for New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day 2023

Published Dec 31, 2022, 5:00am

As New Year’s Eve is not a bank holiday many banks will be open as usual.

However, as it falls on a Saturday it’s likely some branches which do not usually open on the weekend will be closed,

Others may close even earlier than they usually do on a Saturday – at around 12.30 or 1pm, although some, such as Metro Bank, may be open later.

I think it would be hard to withdraw cash in branch without a passport or driving licence. Perhaps she still had a driving licence though.
