I thought the police have said he left in a vehicle? Are we still thinking he walked out and the police are telling us another lie?

We also know the other bin lorry came on Monday morning. It must have been one bin lorry and three other vehicles. The police have done forensics on one bin lorry and one other vehicle.

I don't recall seeing a quote from the police saying Corrie left in a vehicle.

I think Nicola has said that she thinks the police are of that opinion (or words to that effect) but I don't think we've actually heard that in so many words direct from the police.

I imagine that if police think now is the time to search the landfill that they have good reasons for that and that they think there's a decent chance of finding Corrie there.

But...what if he's not there? Sulsar seem to have done a brilliant job of searches of the 3 mile radius around the BM mast. If a voluntary car journey became possible, with the destination being someone's home, then do you think it would be worth Sulsar expanding searches to likely spots on roads exiting BM and Mildenhall? I see images of wide expanses with searchers and sticks, but I can't help thinking that somewhere closer to a roadside might be more likely, and there are a few places on the southern roads from BM that I've already seen on the map that look search-worthy...there would be more that would come out of a similar thing if it was done for Mildenhall, but that would be going out of the 3 mile radius zone. I think it would be much briefer searches at each potential location, and there's also a fly-tipping site that's worth checking out if that's still there. These are mostly locations that would be something like ten metres by 100 metres, as opposed to searching deep into forests and heathland. The locations that I've seen images of searchers going through don't even seem to match the working theory that Sulsar say they are using to define search locations (though I'm sure the images can be very deceptive due to narrow field of view).

The last thing I want is to sound like I'm telling the experts how to do their job, when I have zero expertise in this area. But also the areas I identified should be reasonably valid as they're derived from the Soham case along with the logic of carrying/moving an 11 stone weight out of a car/vehicle. And if you combined this with Sulsar's expert knowledge and their drones then they should be able to take the same logic trail and work out even better search areas along those routes. It wouldn't be like doing a 30 mile radius inch-by-inch search, so each direction ought to be doable in a day or two with those 100 searchers, drones, and cadaver dogs, because they'd be highly targeted locations albeit further out from the BM mast.

I mean, we don't even know for a fact that there were three men on heathland searching for a phone, and if they were they could have been ramblers who were out the previous weekend and had good reason to have maybe lost a phone there. Surely what I'm suggesting has as much rationale as that search region? :-/

The police have said the waste and landfill is one line of enquiry but have not really elaborated on the others.

  • #965
Yes. I think that happened in the first few weeks of Corrie's disappearance.

I know there are a couple of mentions of the teens in some of the early Suffolk Constabulary notices, but I don't recall if they mentioned that they'd been found? They might have done, because they've done those updates for some of the more recent people who were identified. If not, I'm not sure where you'd find that...maybe it's linked on one of the timelines on the threads or in GT's media links thread?

http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/news/scottish-news/three-teenagers-quizzed-police-hunt-9014632

I picked the first MSM link I came to, but the info is still there, in multiple sources, that the three teens were spoken to.

The police have told N that they are sure C left in a vehicle. They have also told this to a number of people at a community event, including the Mayor of Bury St Edmunds ...

I was going by the latest police update in the media thread. They have not put that in there. Has the Lark been searched in the town? Has hollow road area been searched? I am worried that the obvious is being overlooked by officialdom wanting to believe they have an effective cctv system.

I think the phone pings and the police being sure he did not leave on foot has lead the way they are looking at possible outcomes.

If the CCTV is defective and the police don't know about it, the person leading the investigation should be sacked.

Why does N keep doing this?

I think she's doing her best to communicate what she can to the public, and if it wasn't for her trying to do that and for bringing in so many interested members of the public, we wouldn't know anything more than was on the Suffolk Constabulary website.

But why should we know more if this turns out to be murder investigation? Do the police tell her it's ok to say certain things or does she do it off her own back? What has the family told us that hasn't been changed at a later date?

I think if it hadn't turned out to be a high profile case, LE would not have been able to identify all the people, nor obtained as much information as they have done. I am sure N doesn't just tell everything she knows without consent from them. I totally admire her for all she is doing in the most difficult circumstances and am glad she has so much support. I have noticed that when things have been changed, it's mostly been through confusion or her being told different things by LE.
I also like to think that if people, such as us here, in discussing possible scenarios and the possibilities, come up with something that perhaps LE have not considered, then we are helping in a small way. If we can help in that small way, then I think that is great, as after all, there's not a lot anyone else can really do. I hope the family will get the answers they need and that they can also mend their bridges between them.

I have to agree with you on that, a young drunk man ending up in water at the end of the night is so much more likely than convoluted possibilities involving multiple people not doing their jobs properly and systems failing and dead weights being hefted into bins without anyone noticing.

Not saying those things didn't happen but I would have started with the water searches too, I'm still very doubtful that the police recreated every possible way to walk out of the area with every possible permutation of camera movements. This would have taken ages and would have been seen by passers by and be known about by the owners of the private CCTVs yet I've not seen a single suggestion that this has happened.

IMO modelling won't give enough certainty, field tests are needed.

MOO but I think she does it off her own back, I'd be surprised if the police are directing all of the misinformation. It's very difficult, as a mother I can see exactly why she wants as much help as she can get but without rehashing all the "facts" that have changed I can't help but think it hasn't done the investigation any favours

Here you go peeps, while we're twiddling our thumbs waiting for something useful to happen, here's a case to cast your eyes over. It's only 25 posts long so will keep you busy for a few minutes!

Steve went missing after a night out in Crete in 2005, and after years of searching and lots of possible sightings, there has been a body found in a well less than a mile from where Steve was last seen. Currently awaiting identification.

Can anyone recall early on, mention of a D Notice in place...where did that come from and is there any truth in it?

This is exactly what we don't want to see with this case.

Martin (C's father) said he asked the police and they confirmed there hadn't been one issued.

don't think there ever was a DA notice (on what grounds?) but I'm also not sure that the police would confirm or deny it if there was one.

Yet another red herring IMO

we haven't seen any media restrictions and I'm sure that half the stuff that has been reported in the Media would not have been reported if the case had a D notice hanging over it, imo
