It sounds like the recyclable waste collected by that bin lorry bypassed the proper sorting process and went straight into the landfill.

The police would have been assured by Biffa management that C would have been found during the sorting, but it later emerged that no sorting took place.

Now whether this is down to a rogue or inexperienced driver, or a regular corporate cutting of corners, remains to be seen, but it looks like a

BBM - this is where the whole thing falls down for me, I just can't believe that no one within the whole waste industry community in Suffolk/Cambs at any time raised the point that recycling went to landfill.

Biffa staff know, landfill site staff know, all the ex employees of these places know yet no one afawk has gone public and said so. Two large rewards were on offer and still no one came forward, they could have messaged the family if they didn't want to go to the police.

I really hope we get to find out how this was covered up and what the trigger was for the police to ercheck the bin weight, IMO they had aleady made the decsion to search the LF so did someone finally come clean?

If the bin lorry collected the bin shortly after 4am, why did the phone last ping at 8am? When the lorry left the HS, did it go right to the landfill and was it a new driver on that morning?

I can imagine that a phone might slip through the initial tipping process unscathed and tbh I don't think we've ever been totally sure the final ping actually was at 8am, all the different ping theories left me thoroughly confused, I may be wrong but I though that 8am was something to do with the fact that a phone isn't classed as not moving until 3 hours after it's previous ping making 5am the more important time but may have that totally wrong

Afawk it was a substitute driver but I don't think we've been told that he was necessarily a new driver just not the usual one for that route

We were told the original bin lorry was cleared as well as 2 of the other 3 with one still being investigated IIRC. So now the original bin lorry is back in the frame due to weight and landfill issue so that leaves one mystery vehicle presumably still being investigated as there has been no further update on that. It could be a van, a car, a taxi, another bin lorry, we don't know the status. However, is the investigation of it on hold while they search LF or is it still ongoing? That is what MSM or family need to ask or SP need to clarify.

We can never assume that something hasn't been resolved because it hasn't been reported. The tendency is for the police just to stop asking about something once they've eliminated it; they don't make all the details public. It's most likely that the fourth vehicle has been identified and eliminated.

I'm worried if they find nothing after 10 weeks the outstanding vehicle (if it still is) and any other lines of enquiry could be lost. To then go and do another u-turn like they have done with the bin weight and lorry would be a big mistake IMO. Rule something in, then out then in again is unhelpful as we have seen, so more clarity is needed..

If the fourth vehicle hadn't been identified, they would still be asking the public about it.

It has been identified and driver spoken to but is still being investigated according to the last family update on their website. That's why Scorpio and I are asking what happened. Forensics would be next stage but we have heard nothing further.

Where are you seeing that, because I can't find it?

Findcorrie.co.uk family updates

Yes, that's where I looked. Last family update seems to be about the last 2 CCTV potential witnesses. What date is the update that mentions the fourth vehicle?

He is running just before seen on last part of CCTV
And also looks like looking at camera or at something

You will need to search back Tony Wringe updates to find it. I can't remember.

Oh, I see. So it's not recent information then. I assumed "last family update" meant the latest post.

So, this was the situation on 30 January.

"4 Vehicles (including the Bin Lorry) were seen in the Horseshoe area in the time window (between 0300 – 0500hrs) of interest. All of the vehicles have been identified. All of the drivers have been identified and spoken to. Active investigation into at least 2 of them continues.

There are a number of other vehicles that were identified between 0500 – 1600hrs, investigation continues."

Yes that's right. That is the last family update on the vehicles. Since the announcement of the LF search and the new bin weight, nothing more has been heard, as I said, so is that vehicle line of enquiry still ongoing or on hold? As it is still not known how he got in the bin, then it should still be ongoing but nobody is mentioning it.

I'd hope that SP have fully questioned the drivers and are keeping those lines of enquiry open until they find C at the LF. If one of them is involved I suppose they might come clean before anything;s found to help their case

That could be right. Without a body there is no evidence I suppose.

The trouble is that even with a body there's unlikely to be any evidence, at the moment I don't see charges being brought

I don't know that is correct. The discovery of C's body and/or phone could reveal whether it was crush injuries or foul play.

I don't think the two things are mutually exclusive. I would be surprised if there was "foul play" though. Seems more likely to be accident or misadventure.
