I thought it was said a long way back that the bin lorry driver saw a man standing there on his phone, but it wasn't Corrie.

You're correct, and Nicola is now saying something different about the man on the phone to what she stated previously.

From Thread #13 (can't see a post number, but it was put up by lusijay on the first page), transcript of N's live Q&A on 28 Dec 16: "The driver has been spoken to on a number of occasions. He arrived at 4.20am and thought he saw Corrie in the horseshoe but through investigation by the police, this male is seen on CCTV there but it isn't Corrie. He has now been identified as people saw him on the footage in the pod and I have too, it was a man standing using his phone so its not the case that the bin man saw Corrie."

MBIB.

How can he have been seen on CCTV if he was in the horseshoe?

Can anyone remember ,was it confirmed by anyone that he had actually sleept in a bin on a previous night out, i thought it was something like he hadn't but did sleep on park benches and other strange places

I remember similar. I think the whole (damned) bin thing started because one of his brothers said it was "the sort of thing Corrie would do" - not that he HAD done it. But then everyone ran with that and we had months of posts about bins lol.

Nicola says on FB that in the bin lorry drivers statement that when he got back in his lorry to drive away that all 4 people that he saw in the area had left, he did not see were they all went however CCTV only shows 3 people leaving on foot down short brackland which leaves 1 person unaccounted for.

This could mean if the 4th person was Corrie, he could of actually just been out of sight of the lorry driver (behind the bins) and left on foot after 6am which they don’t have footage of.

Or Corrie was not one of the 4 people he saw and was instead in the bin.

I am leaning towards the first, I simply cannot believe that Corrie was in that bin. For several reasons, it absolutely stinks and how could anyone sleep in there, there was other people in the area how did no one see him, he’d already slept so I can’t imagine him getting in the bin then falling into such a deep sleep that he didn’t hear something as loud as a bin lorry, the driver states in his statement he looked in the bin and it was just rubbish.

That said, him leaving after 6 means he wasn’t the person that the bread delivery man saw unless the times are out

Another thought, if the person who the driver saw looking at his phone was Corrie then why is there no traces of useage of his phone past that text?

Which indicates that probably wasn’t Corrie.

However who is to say Corrie hadn’t already run out of data or battery and he was just messing around with it. But then (if it did) how did it get from Corrie to the van? Maybe it was broke and Corrie went and chucked it in the bin before he driver even got out of his cab.

It’s all plausible I guess. Then again if your phones broke you’d hang onto it still you wouldn’t just chuck it away

"Det Supt Elliott said police had spoken to one witness who had previously found Mr Mckeague asleep in a bin and he had been known to previously sleep on park benches, in toilets and stair wells."

Thanks, I was trying to find this quote.

I'd really like to know who said they found him in a bin but it's probably best it isn't made public as the person would likely end up being harassed. I'd guess it was a colleague CM had been out drinking with previously.

Would also be interesting to know how many people verified he slept on benches etc.

The bin man says he looked in the bin and would have noticed Corrie, it does seem strange that if the bin weighed 110kg the driver didn't notice that, it would be heavier to move than usual.

It's all very, very strange indeed. I wonder if the bin man will ever give a public statement now the case seems to be pretty much closed.

Wasn't it an old phone he was using, because his current phone was being repaired? If so, he might well dump it if it got damaged.

I think that would be most unwise. He would risk a lynching by some of N's more unhinged supporters.

He might want to put across his side of the story though, since some might argue there is a modicum of suspicion surrounding his actions that night. Half expecting a DM sad face exposé.

I think the phone, despite being old by modern standards was still a smart phone though so not worth just chucking away. Unless it was smashed, a smashed temporary phone would be worthless and you would probably just chuck it I guess.

Look back a few posts and I've said that the 4th person on the phone WAS seen on CCTV and has been identified.

7 years for presumed dead

Not necessarily, the wife of John Darwin (aka canoe man) got him declared dead quite quickly. It all depends on the circumstances.
Get a declaration of presumed death

It's a mute point anyhow as imo it is very unlikely CM had any life insurance, he seems to have been a bit of a spendthrift. His mum even paid his phone bill iirc.

Even if he wanted to go public Biffa probably would not allow it. Most large businesses have very strict policies about employees speaking to the media regarding any aspect of their employment.
