It may be that police were meaning tracks he might have left or evidence of his presence rather than evidence in a criminal sense.
I understood that, but unless they cordon off everywhere they suspect of him going, it was a bit of a moot comment by them really.
Asking volunteers not to search is understandable, but I really do think this may be the best way of finding him.
It's usually volunteers or members of the public who do find deceased missing people.
How many police officers are going to be on the ground searching themselves?
Not too many, I shouldn't think.
