GUILTY UK - Elsie Scully-Hicks, 18 mos, murdered, Llandaff, Cardiff, 25 May 2016

Interesting quote in the Wail today:

The whistleblower claims social workers should have alerted child protection officials each time Elsie suffered an injury – even if they believed Scully-Hicks’ claim that they were accidental. The former council worker said: ‘It is hard to believe that didn’t happen. It might be that the couple weren’t properly vetted because they appeared to be intelligent and middle-class. Possibly because they were a same sex couple as well.’

Social workers in the UK are left wing virtually to a man and woman. The fact that this couple were regarded middle class would probably have gone against them but the fact that they were gay almost certainly ticked a few right-on boxes. It's possible they were chosen to adopt the baby over more suitable heterosexual couples.

For couples unable to have children, the chance to adopt a heathly, neurotypical (ie normal) baby is the Holy Grail in the UK as most children up for adoption are older, often psychologically damaged (sometimes seriously) and frequently seriously (and often multiply) disabled.

I wouldn’t say Social Workers are ‘left wing’ as they’re determined to break up families suffering difficulties due to adversity and poverty. I knew of such families in my childhood and they reached adulthood without ‘suffering harm’. What I’m concerned about here are the suggestions that Craig Scully-Hicks had relatives on the Council who suggested they adopt. It seemed to go through very quickly. What exactly is the point of Social Workers? Crimes against children should be dealt with in the same way as crimes against adults, by the police. And ‘assessments’ for ‘care’ for the old, don’t get me started... Doctors are qualified to do this.

Elsie needs a photo for her thread:

I just can’t believe what happened to this innocent little angel. How could anyone cause Elsie harm. It is heartbreaking I had to turn over the news yesterday as I was in tears.

Are you in the UK? To be a social worker in the UK you have to have a degree in social work, and university sociology/social work/social policy departments are left wing to a lecturer and student. Students who are not socialist or left wing don't apply or get weeded out during the course one way or another. That means that graduates who go on to do post-grad work or become faculty members themselves are inevitably left wing. It's a left wing vicious circle in which no alternative ideas or views have been allowed to enter for decades.

What I’m concerned about here are the suggestions that Craig Scully-Hicks had relatives on the Council who suggested they adopt. It seemed to go through very quickly.

I've seen veiled hints that corruption could have been involved in this adoption. I would hope that possibility is thoroughly investigated and the book thrown at anyone who used or took influence in the placing of the baby.

The point of social workers is supposed to be the promotion of child welfare, which can be a pretty nebulous thing and comprises many shades of grey. In recent decades the practice has been to leave children with families who were clearly disfunctional and often beyond help, with children taken into care at the age of 4-7, sometimes even older. By then, the children have massive psychological and social problems that it may be too late to compensate for. This has started to change in recent years because it has become increasingly apparent that babies who are neglected, especially in terms of maternal attention and contact, may develop attachment disorders that can be irreparable.

There have been cases reported in the UK of foster and adoptive families being torn apart by the behaviour of such children.

This monster should never walk the streets again after what he has done. Life should mean life in cases like this I am sick to death of the lenient sentences being handed out.

I suspect he will serve his sentence in isolation for his own protection. Child abuse of any sort does not go down well with other old lags.

If she was forcibly adopted at before 18 months there must have been very serious concerns over the biological mother.

If anything, social services tend to leave children too long with inadequate parents so that when the child is eventually taken into care they are very often damaged beyond "repair".

It seems I was right.

Speaking at the end of last year, Mr Justice Moor said: 'Her birth mother is a drug addict who was certainly in prison at one point during the adoption proceedings.'

He added: 'Elsie had to be taken away from her birth mother as she was suffering significant harm at the hands of her birth mother, due primarily to her birth mother's drug addiction.'

The problem wasn't that she was taken into care. The problem was that she was failed by both birth parents and one of her adoptive parents.
