Could be - perhaps they've been given the majority ok ruling from the Judge ?
Haven't seen any of the journos tweeting about it though, so might have just been a late lunch break


ETA just looking on the Law Pages, there is another case going on in Court 3 and that case had a break from 2-3pm. So you might be right Moll and the Jury for Cilliers did go back in for some reason during that time.

Thanks, Alyce. I thought so because I don't think lunch is counted as a break once the jury has retired. The jury remains retired and sandwiches are brought in - or that's what happened a rather long time ago when I was doing jury service.

The other case in Court 3 has resumed.

Well, I was going to say I don't think the judge would leave them floundering for a fourth day and he will issue a majority ruling. But having just seen that tweet about Friday I'm not so sure. It doesn't seem right to me, something's off. Wonder if it was his directions.

Absolutely not.

I can only think that VC could not be believed and they think she may have had something to do with it? It seems so straightforward to me, even with her seemingly becoming a hostile witness.

Very odd. It was a long summing up, wasn't it - 2 days more or less. We've all seen shorter ones for actual murder cases.
I am really surprised he has not given the majority ruling today.
Hopefully he might decide to do that tomorrow, while they still have 12 jurors and can go for a 10 -2. I think, if they are struggling now, then 10-1 will be even harder to achieve.

I would also have thought ( hoped ) by now, the jury might have been asked to give some indication of what they are stuck on. It may be only one of the 3 charges causing the problem?
We can but hope. I would hate to see him get away with this.

(Re Victoria Cilliers' evidence)
Except that she could not really undermine the facts reported, as far as I could see, because she didn't say she'd tried to commit suicide. She presented herself as in a bad way, though, and capable of mistakenly abandoning the main parachute before the reserve failed to work. It seemed to be agreed that the only other option was that someone else sabotaged the parachute, unless you went with the feeble defence 'accidents do happen' line. The slinks were missing. She didn't do that.
On the gas pipe, the same seemed to be true - there was clear independent evidence, I thought.
All very frustrating.
