As long as there is no indication that crime is involved, it would be best IMO to concentrate on GL's disappearance, not her private life and possible motives for suicide. Her behaviour on CCTV looked, to me, hurried, troubled, maybe confused and erratic. After all that went before, her yoga moves can't have been anything like normal yoga exercise. It seems likely that she had problems; what they were is less important for our purposes IMO.
She may have gone to the cathedral to deal with her problems, one way or another. Maybe she wanted to speak to a cleric, or to pray or contemplate, or to regain her calm. She may have met someone, but I do not like the newspapers talking about a "mystery person", which is a sensationalist term and pure speculation.
While it is still possible that she has gone into hiding or has been kidnapped, the solution is probably to be found in the river, as it was in Nicola Bulley's case. I saw that discussion of the river Wemsun has already begun.
Wise words imo considering the speculation at the time regarding Nicola Bulley not necessarily in here I'll add.

Am I missing this Presser? Not showing on bbc live yet

  • #343
BBC news not covering it live, my mistake. In a way that's good - implies that nothing dreadful has happened.

Not showing on Sky News either so probably delayed as these pressers always seem to be.

Police to give update

We're expecting to hear from Norfolk Police Chief Superintendent Dave Buckley, who will provide us an update from Wensum Park, the site of underwater searches in recent days.
We're set to hear from him within the next hour.
We're also expecting police to release more CCTV footage today - including of Gaynor Lord close to the park.

Right so, that is not ALL of her clothes. Was she wearing trousers? Thanks for sharing this.
Is there any particular reason you are concerned with what clothing was or wasn't found in the park? What significance do you think it implies?

  • #347
Yes, and also a number of private residences. It's almost like a tiny little village in the city, absolutely beautiful. Lots of historic places too such as Pulls Ferry, Cow Tower, historic pubs and buildings.
I know this is terrible circumstances, but we really do live in a beautiful city.

Searchers using SONAR technology to look for Gaynor Lord

Chief Superintendent Dave Buckley of Norfolk Constabulary told reporters: "The investigation at the moment is still focused very much on the river... everything we know points to a high probability that Gaynor went into the water."

'It's very, very challenging'

Beginning today's update, Chief Superintendent Dave Buckly revealed divers have been in the water today, but it is "very, very challenging".
He said: "We have sonar equipmennt to direct the divers where we think objects are. It's slow and methodical and divers can't see more than one foot in front of them."

Has anything been said about the discarded clothing as to whether it was just tossed on the ground, or folded/perhaps left on a bench or stump, hidden behind/under brush or debris, ...? Imo.

Gaynor 'would have been familiar' with the riverside park where she was last seen

Friends of missing mum Gaynor Lord today said she 'would have been familiar' with the riverside park where she was last seen.
A major police search has focussed on Wensum Park in Norwich, Norfolk, since her belongings were found on Friday night, five hours after she left work early.
The 55-year-old's glasses, trousers and shoes were found with other clothing, rings, a phone and handbag scattered in the beauty spot amid fears she entered the water.
Friends today said the park, around a mile from her workplace but the opposite direction from her home in King Street, was one of her favourite dog-walking spots.

Ok I know they don’t alwasy give everything away but the Police officer who spoke seems adamant they don’t know what happened in the 30 mins in cathedral grounds. If this is true she must have avoided all cctv which is unlucky

The land opposite they talked about is basically scrub land inbetween houses. Probably about 3 houses width maybe? It’s all over grown. I think it’s a building plot that’s been left for a while.

Release of CCTV has so far yielded no help in search

Norfolk Constabulary yesterday released CCTV of Gaynor in town at the last time she was seen.
However, it has so far yielded no results in helping discover what happened. The officer added: "It is out of character for her.
"We are trying to understand why this may have happened."

Norfolk Police have released further CCTV footage (of Gaynor's progress along St. Augustine's Street). Her demeanour appears very different to the earlier footage, IMO.

I'm actually quite upset about the media circus around this and indeed some of the chatter on here. I know everyone likes a mystery and a whodunnit, but come on now. Was nothing learned from Nicola Bulley?

When asked about parralels between Gaynor's dissapearance and the earlier case of Nicola Bulley, the chief superintendent revealed his teams have reached out to Lancashire Police.
He added: "We will always learn from other cases. We have reached out to Lancashire Police for anything we can learn.
"They are helping us. We will apply all of that in our own search."

I take issue with the News' interpretation of her friends report, as I mentioned earlier, because he didn't call out Wensum Park. What he actually said was "Riverside" which is a totally different area smack bang in the city center (and quite a walk from Cathedral) and "rivers around the area", which is a huge expanse of the city reaching right down towards the tennis club and out to the city limits on the other side, too.

Yes, she may have been familiar with Wensum Park but that's NOT what her friend said at all, per the original article in Norwich Evening News.

Edit - Words.
