We are appealing for the public’s help to trace Patrick Clark from Gourock.

Patrick was last seen at Lyle's pub (formerly Monteith’s) on Shore Street in the town at 12.10am on Tuesday, 31 January, 2023.

The 70-year-old who is in poor health, has not been seen since and there are growing concerns for his welfare.

Patrick is described as white, 5ft 8 ins tall with grey/white short hair.

Anyone who may have seen Patrick since this time, or who has any information on his whereabouts, is urged to contact Police Scotland via 101 quoting incident number 3371 of 31 January.

A VIGIL for missing man Patrick Clark will be held outside his home tomorrow (19th February).

Locals are being asked to gather outside the Eastern View high flats in Gourock at 7pm, as concern about the missing 70-year-old continues to grow.

Mr Clark was last seen at Lyle's Bar on Shore Street at 12.10am on January 31.
Police say they are becoming increasingly concerned for his welfare and continuing to support his family.

Inspector Paul Thompson added: "Despite significant efforts by police and the local community Patrick has not yet been found.

"Extensive searches have been carried out led by specialist officers, including air support and the dive and marine unit.

"Local officers have carried out house to house enquiries and are continuing to review CCTV footage.

"Any information, no matter how basic it might seem, may be of significant assistance."

The niece of a pensioner who has not been seen for over a week has issued a fresh plea for information after his 'out of character' disappearance.

Patrick Clark, 70, was last seen leaving a pub on Shore Street in Gourock at around 12.10am on Tuesday January 31. His family have described his disappearance as "completely out of character", and the incident has prompted locals to help with searches to find him.

Around 35 members of the community gathered in the town centre on Wednesday to carry out searches of the area in the hope of assisting the police operation to trace him. Patrick's niece Claire Murdoch said the support of locals had given the family a "million percent" boost.

She said: "The police still have nothing to go on, nothing at all, which is just frustrating. They've got all sorts of agencies involved and we have a family liaison officer looking after us.

"His bank card hasn't been used – he barely used it, only to take out cash as he worked in cash – nor has his bus pass. The last sighting we have is of the CCTV of him leaving the pub.

"It's completely out of character because he was never one to stay out late. He would go and have one drink of a low-calorie beer, because he wasn't a drinker, and he would nurse that all evening.

"He went to the pub for company. There's nothing else we can really say – we just wish there was that one wee snippet of information that might tell us where he has gone."

It's a 5 min walk from pub to his home. Close to sea, but can't see, unless he took detour, how he would have been that close.

Four weeks on from when he was last seen officers are re-appealing for any information to help trace a 70-year-old man from Gourock.

Patrick Clark was last seen at Lyle’s pub on Shore Street, around 12.10am on Tuesday, 31 January, 2023.

Extensive enquiries and searches have been carried out, led by specialist officers including air support and the dive and marine unit.

A police presence has remained in the area and officers have carried out door to door enquiries and are continuing to review CCTV in a bid to trace Patrick.

Chief Inspector Damian Kane said: “As time goes on we are growing increasingly concerned for the welfare of Patrick. His family are extremely worried and are being supported by officers at this difficult time.

“Extensive searches and enquiries have been carried out but despite efforts so far Patrick has not yet been found.

“Patrick was last seen four weeks ago on Shore Street, Gourock and we are asking people to cast their minds back and think if they have seen Patrick since.

“Anyone who has seen him or who has any information on his whereabouts is asked to contact us. Any information, no matter how small or basic it may seem, could be significant and I would encourage people to get in touch.”

THE organisers of a recent search for missing Gourock man Patrick Clark are seeking donations for a special auction to help fund the continued hunt for him.

The 70-year-old was last seen at Lyle's Bar on Shore Street at 12.10am on January 31, despite concerted efforts to trace the pensioner.

Locals staged a widespread search in mid February and have continued to work to keep his disappearance in the spotlight by putting up posters and appeals through social media.

Organiser Jan Gal, who runs the Facebook group 'Find Patrick Clark' with her friend Gill Logue, is now asking for donations which can be auctioned off to pay for a renewed push to find the Gourock man.

Jan says she has been overwhelmed by the outpouring of emotion around Patrick's disappearance.

"We're going to hold the auction once we've had enough donations. I know things are very tight but if anyone is able to donate it would be a big help.

"This is a really good cause and we need to get some sort of closure on this, it's going on and on.

"We're just trying to do what we can to keep people looking for Patrick.

"We've received donations and vouchers from lots of groups and companies and we're so grateful.

"We need to keep the effort going though and we're planning to get some banners we can hang on local bridges to raise awareness.

"Everyone who has helped has been really good and I can't thank everyone enough."

On Wed, 5 April, the body of a man was discovered within Mile Burn, Gourock. Although formal identification has still to take place, the family of Patrick Clark, 70, missing from Gourock since January, has been informed.

There would appear to be no suspicious circumstances surrounding his death.
