it sounds a lot like they don't know themselves. All those other flats & all those other people, it's not likely that 1 guy has 15 people involved in his murder. First it was the teacher angle, they left that, now it's a female love triangle but how that neighbour fits in, not too sure either. They charged that guy but only on defeating the ends & only because he made himself very suspicious by burning that van. Which he probably will say was something else related he didn't want the cops to know. Which could very well be. He wouldn't be the first growing a plantation in his flat & trying to get rid of it ASAP. That they keep on searching means probably they haven't found much other parts so how he died might remain a mystery.

Just thinking this is too weird, the police must know this boy wasn’t murdered, as you can be charged with murder without a body in Scotland ie Nat Fraser and David Gilroy. So the must know that or have reasonable belief of how he died

Yes, you can but those should never have happened. It's also a very real possibility that he was killed by somebody not involved in all these searches. For example the LISK investigation in NY was botched for 20 years because they were too focused on criminal elements that were actually just coincidence(even though there were real crimes) & had nothing to do with the real serial killer. Coincidences do happen, even the weirdest of them. Here the police hasn't done the autopsy because they are missing vital parts. Which is completely understandable then that you can't say the neighbour did it. That's not justice. Especially if you do all those searches & you come up empty. Maybe all that van had was drugs. Then you have to acknowledge that & go back to the drawing board. You have eliminated the obvious suspects (people that were close or known to him) & then you have to look at the other possibilities, the ones you can't prove like he was taken when he left a bar or something. Remember Lewis is completely gone.

It's possible he died in an "accident" and John Roarty decided, for whatever reason, to try and get rid of the body. Or the cause of death is just taking longer than expected to determine, due to the nature of the remains.

I'm thinking the latter is most likely at this point

The police said that there was not yet an autopsy because there aren't enough parts. That means they might nog have his head/neck or torso. You need that if he was killed by any injury there.

Of course, yep, they haven't found all the remains
