ONE YEAR ON... MISSING WINCHESTER MAN STILL HAS NOT BEEN FOUND
Hampshire and IoW News
As the posters fade, the search never does for Missing Grant Maddocks who would be now 53 and vanished in Winchester on the 5th August 2022, one year ago today.
It was a year ago when Grant absconded from Winchester Hospital wearing a black vest, jeans and slippers, confused from having suffered brain damage affecting his memory and encephalopathy (a disease in which the functioning of the brain is affected.)
He was last seen at 18.15hrs after leaving Winchester Hospital on foot.
He had mobility issues so may have managed to hitch hike at that time.
Police enquiries have shown Grant was captured on bus CCTV walking on Badger Farm Road at the junction to Ridgeway and near to the Sainsburys roundabout and Parliament Place heading out of the Winchester direction. There has been no CCTV or confirmed sightings beyond this location to date.
Police, and Grant’s family, continue to be concerned for his welfare, and continue to ask anyone who has seen him to please get in touch with officers. Police believed that he was on foot.
He likes nature and is not adverse to sleeping under the stars.
Grant may be in the Winchester, Portsmouth or Plymouth areas.
He is described as:
• White
• 6ft 3ins tall
• Slim build
• Short blonde / brown hair
He has a tattoo on his left forearm of a large snake. Had a grey, wispy beard and a receded hairline.
In the last known CCTV images, Grant is wearing a black vest top, blue jeans and dark footwear – possibly a pair of slippers. At the time he went missing Police did not know if he had at all changed clothes.
Have you noticed someone over the past year matching Grants description (or with longer hair and a beard) sleeping rough in or around Hampshire?
The advice still remains the same, If you see Grant please call 999, quoting the reference 44220316567.
Video appeal to follow.
