/witness saw Helen on 'April 11'

Mrs Richards said she saw Helen Bailey in April this year, narrowing it down to Monday April 11. She said: “Initially it could have been Saturday, Sunday or the Monday. “I was away on holiday until the evening of April 8 and the Tuesday 12 my daughter was back at college. “I managed to narrow it down to Monday April 11 that I saw Helen. I was busy Sunday and in the Saturday I was in Cambridge for most of the day.”

Daughter pointed out Boris the dog

“On Monday April 11 when I saw Helen, my attention was drawn to her by my daughter Catherine, now 20, who does not know Helen at all. “Being a teenager [then] she was drawn by the appearance of a small dog and she drew my attention to Boris through my living room window. “Boris was on a lead, but I can’t remember which direction Helen was going. “When I saw Helen it was between probably 1pm and 2.20pm.”

No doubt' it was Helen

“We think this is the time we saw Helen. We saw her while we were standing in the living room, right by the front window. “Helen was outside on the road. “There is no doubt it was Helen that I saw. The doubt was the exact time I saw her.”

here we go, she said this last time, re the date and time...now she seems ok with the date, but still not sure about the time.

Literally the ONLY person who claims to have seen Helen beyond the time she went offline etc... and she is unsure of the time and had to whittle down the day by process of not-so-clear elimination. This defence case is floundering.

Remembered seeing Helen after police called

Mrs Richards is now being cross examined by the prosecution. She confirms that police did a door to door sweep of the road she lives in. “We didn’t think too much about it because we heard there was a note that she had gone away. “Then when there was more concern for her, police came round knocking on doors and that’s when we remembered we saw her. “Helen definitely had trousers and a coat on when we saw her. “My daughter said ‘oh look mum a nice dog’ and I glanced out of the window and saw Helen with Boris. “I said ‘that’s the author who lives round the corner, and her dog Boris’. “Many dog walkers walk there, but not with a dachshund dog.”

Witness thought she saw Helen later

Stuart Trimmer asks Mrs Richards: “We’ve been listening to evidence that suggests Helen might have not been at her desk at 9.30am-10am on April 11. Is it possible you and your daughter saw Helen at 9.30am or there abouts?” Mrs Richards said: “I think it’s unlikely but I could not confirm that. “She wasn’t walking particularly fast, I have an image of her with her head slightly down, walking slowly up the road.”

Something that doesn't sit right is IS saying that Helen took those zopiclone herself, especially when he claims that she took them when he was in hospital.

She was a known worrier, she would research and read up on stuff, she didn't like taking prescription meds and she had high blood pressure, yet IS claims that she took his zopiclone off him because it could give him unwanted side effects due to his MG but then took them herself knowing that she has high blood pressure.

Surely a quick look at the google results of 'zopiclone high blood pressure' would be enough to put a worrier off taking those pills, especially if they were alone at night.

She wrote herself that she scared to take a valium tablet in case it interacted with other things she was taking so I'd expect to see lots of research on Zopiclone and its interactions with other meds and herbal remedies if she really had considered taking it.

Unless they can produce a witness that saw her AFTER Monday 11th I don't see what the point is?

May have seen Helen earlier

“The picture I have in my head is that it wasn’t later in the day. It was a dry day - I can’t really explain why but my feeling was always that it would not have been after I went for a blood test at 2.20pm. “I can’t tell you what time Catherine got back from college because every day is different.” Prosecutor Stuart Trimmer asks: “As an alternative, if Catherine hadn’t gone to college at 9.30am you might have been together and saw Helen then? Mrs Richards said: “It wouldn’t be impossible.”

This is unreliable evidence at best from Mrs Richards. Unless defence can rustle up another half dozen such witnesses to cast a reasonable doubt it's curtains for them.

Janice Richards said her & her daughter saw Helen Bailey between 1-2.20pm on April 11. An earlier timing "wouldn't be impossible", she adds.

well that's sorted her out !

The defence counsel must be sat there lamenting what they could be doing instead of being sat there.
