Police Scotland Highland & Islands are appealing for information to help trace Iain MacDonald, 58, who has been reported missing from South Uist [Outer Hebrides].

Iain was reported missing from the Daliburgh area around 4.30pm on Sunday, 19 October, 2025.

Iain is described as 5ft 9ins tall, of medium build with white short hair and facial hair. When last seen, he was wearing a green body warmer, red checked shirt, black trousers and dark coloured boots.

Sergeant Fiona Murray said: “We are appealing to anyone who has seen Iain, or has any information regarding where he may be, to come forward and speak to officers.

“We understand Iain was the passenger of a car that was involved in a one-vehicle crash prior to going missing, so we are keen to trace him to ensure he is safe and well.

South Uist is the second biggest island in the Outer Hebrides.

The scene of the crash on Sunday is located just under three miles from the island’s main village and port of Lochboisdale.''

It looks like there may be good news coming through about Iain. There is no official announcement yet.

Edit to add: the police have now confirmed that Iain has been traced. There are no further details.
