Found Deceased UK - Lee Horton, 36, missing from Evesham (Worcs.), last seen in central Bristol, 11 Mar 2025

*UPDATE*
We have confirmed sightings of missing Lee Horton, 36, from Evesham, boarding a train at Bristol Temple Meads and leaving it at Gloucester.
Lee has not returned home or been in contact with his family since Tuesday 11 March.
The latest sighting is of him leaving ASDA Gloucester and walking towards Station Road at 3.46pm on Tuesday 11 March.
More than 34 officers have been involved in the search for Lee so far, with enquiries including piecing together CCTV sightings, financial and phone checks, checking with hotels and bus companies and speaking with Lee's family, friends and colleagues as well as liaising with colleagues in British Transport Police and West Mercia Police.
Detective Inspector Tim Mullins said: "Throughout this investigation we have kept an open mind and followed up every potential sighting and piece of information.
"Carrying out CCTV enquiries is challenging work. In many cases only certain staff at premises with private CCTV can access the system, while others require a formal application to a head office, adding delays to the process.
"We can now be confident that Lee travelled out of Bristol by train as planned, but remain concerned for his welfare as he has yet to return home or contact his family. We will work with our colleagues in Gloucestershire Police to progress the enquiry."
Lee is 5ft 11ins tall and white with short dark brown hair and a beard and a distinguishing birth mark on his right arm. He was wearing a blue jacket, dark-coloured jeans and was carrying a large black rucksack with red tags on it.
If you know where Lee is now, please call 999, or ring 101 with any other information. Avon and Somerset Police reference 5225073912.

Wait so they knew he was in bristol around 11 on Tuesday since the beginning, and he had said to his family he was gonna take the train. Only now, 10 days later, we find out he indeed went to temple meads and left bristol within hours. Wouldn’t that be the first thing you check!? That’s crazy

Did you read the article? 34 officers have been working on the case checking CCTV cameras amongst other things and this is a recent sighting made in Gloucester.
It must be like looking for a needle in a haystack one missing man in a city who could have gone literally anywhere. How many people use Temple meads daily I wonder.

I did, did you? I mean, it’s literally the headline: “POLICE have confirmed there has been another sighting of missing Evesham man Lee Horton – showing him in Gloucester around 3.33pm on the Tuesday he went missing (March 11).”

It is absolutely not a recent sighting, and that should be made very clear. It’s on the same day as all the previous sightings.

To recap, he told his family Tuesday morning that he was gonna catch a train, and he was indeed catching a train at around 2:45. So it’s like looking for a needle in a haystack, except the haystack is exactly where he said he’d be, and not literally anywhere. And for the last 10 days everyone has been looking for him in the wrong city.

And of course they made sure to mention how hard they have been working and how difficult this is, almost like they were preempting some kind of backlash? I’m sure they do work hard, and combing through cctv is mind numbing no doubt, but come on. If this is not dropping the ball idk what is

Also I have seen many people on various platforms misinterpreting or not reading the update, and assuming that this is a recent sighting. This is leading people to either:

-Express relief because they believe that even though he hasn’t made contact at least he seems well, or
-Believe that he’s made the choice to not contact his family and wants to be left alone.

It needs to be reiterated that this is not a recent sighting, and he is very much still missing. There are no recent sightings at all.

Here is the Asda they spotted him in. The dropped pin highlights Station Road, which is quite short and basically just in front of the station. The Asda is basically just the first supermarket near the station. I’m guessing it’s probably a 30 ish minute train ride between Bristol Tempke Meads and Gloucester (that’s just a guess based on how long it took me to drive it recently), so it sounds like he probably went straight to Asda from getting off the train. It looks like a big one too so hopefully he was able to buy some dry clothes.

He was seen leaving Asda and walking in the direction of station road, which doesn’t really provide much clues. I would assume he was either headed back to the station or he would be walking into the centre of Gloucester. JMO Map below from Google Maps

It seems like he already got himself some new clothes! In the Gloucester cctv he’s wearing a black t-shirt vs all the previous cctv he’s wearing a white t-shirt

Mm you could be right I suppose we don’t know what has gone on with investigation behind the scenes. Isn’t this the same force for the Jack OSullivan missing case? His Mum seemed to be disappointed with their response.
I am aware the sighting was later on the 11 March but this is the first time we’ve heard Gloucester mentioned as a location.
Feel for the family who must be beside themselves :(

Detectives have now confirmed that he paid cash for a ticket to Worcester and caught a train at around 2.40pm on Tuesday 11 March.

Officers travelled to Worcester Shrub Hill station and established he did not leave the train there.

Since then detectives have been checking each station on the route and have found Lee on CCTV leaving the train at Gloucester, and leaving Gloucester station at 3.33pm on 11 March.

BBM
I wonder why he paid for a ticket to Worcester but did not get off there.

It reads to me like he's really trying to cover his tracks, mislead someone maybe? I don't understand why you'd buy a ticket to a place you don't intend to get off at, unless it's all he could afford? But from a quick search online the tickets don't seem too pricey...£14 for example I've seen for tickets for this journey.

Unsure if it's possible to find out where the train service terminates, could he have stayed on past Worcester? That'd explain buying a ticket for Worcester and not getting off (if money issues), however if he's got off earlier after buying a ticket to Worcester, you'd think that it'd be cheaper to just buy a ticket for the earlier destination, which then - imo - leads into the theory that he is trying to hide/cover tracks.

Edited to add - He's from Evesham, and Trainline says to get to Evesham (his hometown) from Bristol, you go Bristol to Worcester, which is the train journey in question, then Worcester to Evesham. This makes it really odd he did not get off in Worcester which would get him home.

It is the same force, you’re right.

It may be my impression only, but to me it seems like there is a disparity in how they respond to different cases. For instance, Luis Piovesana went missing early on a Friday morning and over the weekend there were plenty of cctv images and information about his movements, arguably more than there is now about Lee’s movements. He was found by Monday morning. His sister made a lot of noise in social media, rightfully so! That may be the difference. Regardless, it shouldn’t take that for police to expedite enquiries. This is just a personal observation tho, bearing in mind that my sample size is 3 (Jack, Luis and Lee).

It’s the opposite actually, Gloucester is before Worcester - Gloucester is just 5 stops from
Bristol. Worcester is further up and I believe is the end of the line but not 100% sure.

You’re not wrong tho, it definitely kinda seems like he’s covering his tracks or perhaps thinks he’s being followed?

Yes why do some cases just not get anywhere near the amount of publicity. Joseph Bellamy wasn’t too far away and seemed very quiet even his page on WS

If he is in crisis, his thinking may be disorganised. If he is not sleeping, eating properly, out in the cold, I doubt those will help his state of mind and rational thinking.

I recall from another big missing person case, vulnerability will make one case be regarded as priority over another.
The fact he went in a river will especially ring alarm bells.

Worcester is not the end of the line although some indivindual services terminate there. Going by train from Bristol to Evesham would require Lee to change at Worcester.

He could of got off the train early at Gloucester because he became unwell, or he could of not been concentrating and misheard the announcement for Gloucester or thought it said Worcester, as they both end the same.
