After the police force announced the discovery of the latest body on its Facebook page, it was inundated with more than 300 comments, many of them suggesting a serial killer was at large.''

Mum is saying on her recent appeal Jack’s phone was in use over 2hrs later after we see him on CCTV.
The parents of a 22-year-old student who went missing nearly three weeks ago have said locating his phone may help them find out what's happened to him.

Jack O'Sullivan was last seen walking near Bristol's city centre, along Brunel Lock Road, just after 3am on Saturday 2 March.

He phoned a friend in the minutes afterwards and answered his handset when she returned his call.

When his parents, Catherine and Alan, from Flax Bourton, awoke after 5am and realised he hadn't come home, they used an app to see where he was.

This showed Jack - or at least his phone - was in Granby Hill in Hotwells, a few streets uphill from the docks.

Today marks one month since Jack O'Sullivan, now 23, was last seen in the Hotwells area of Bristol.

His last confirmed sighting was at 3.15am on Saturday 2 March.

Senior investigating officer DI Jason Chidgey said: "This is an incredible difficult and distressing time for Jack's family and friends and we are continuing our efforts to try and find him.

"It has been one month since Jack was last seen down in the Cumberland Basin area and we continue to appeal for anyone who may have been driving along these roads and may have seen something, or have dashcam footage if they did not see it themselves.

"If you live in the area and have CCTV or video doorbells, please check back to Saturday 2 March and see if you notice anything or anyone meeting Jack's description.

"The smallest bit of information could make a huge difference in our investigation so, even if you don't think it is important, we encourage people to still get in touch with us."

A barbour jacket and a beige jumper seem (a) strange things to wear to a house party but (b) also would be heaving going if ended up in water. In the video of his parents interview the Dad shows several 'exits' of stairs going up onto the flyover road, wondering if his son went up there and appealing for dash cam footage. The fact no-one so far has come forward with dash cam footage from up there means he probably hasn't gone up there.

Has anyone said how much he to drink that night? Was he reported to be intoxicated? Or sad/low?

Has anyone made a map yet to point where the party was, where the sighting was and where his home location is?

Poor boy I hope he’s found soon so his family can begin to grieve (looking at the area of where he went missing I can only see one outcome and that’s that he ended up in the water)

It’s easy to blame friends in these situations but when alcohol is involved we all have made silly decisions before I’m sure - I remember several times in my youth either myself or one of my friends would be too drunk for the club rather than ruining everyone’s night the drunk person used to just go home.. now I’m older I realise how stupid that was but in your youth you feel invincible

My kid did something stupid like this once, he went out drinking with his uni mates in Bristol but got bored and decided to leave, but he didn't want to get a taxi because it would have cost a fortune so he decided to walk home. We live 3 or 4 villages down from Jack's parents.
To get home he had to walk through Bristol and over the Long Ashton bypass which is pitch black in stretches.
He called me at around 2am from somewhere on the bypass as he had suddenly regained an ounce of sense and realised how stupid he'd been, and I went to collect him. I had to get his brother out of bed to come with me so he could try and spot him along the bypass in the dark.

I don't think I've ever been so furious with him before or since! I'm just thankful that he at least took me at my word, which has always been " I would 100% rather be woken up by a call for help than a call to inform", that went for his friend's too, they all had my number and knew they could call and I would come, and called me.

I dread to think what could have happened because he made a stupid decision after a night out

It was scary driving along there trying to spot him, it was so dark.
He wasn't even very drunk, just bloody stupid!.
He said he didn't want me to be annoyed because of the time at first and he thought he would be OK, I said it doesn't matter how mad I might be I will still always come, better earache from a pissed off mum than hit by a vehicle in the dark, or any of the other terrible things that could have happened!.

I don't think he ever realised how lucky he is that he stayed safe until we got there.

He is 29 next week and he knows it still stands!.

It is tidal, and I think it possible for the phone to still be registering for a while if the tide was out and he fell in, even when the tide started to come in and rise lots of phones these days are made to withstand being submerged for a short amount of time.
It could even be possible that Jack dropped his phone when he answered it and tried to climb down to retrieve it, it's dangerous down there even when the tide is out

At the point of his last sighting (the yellow triangle), he has already passed the Cumberland basin, which is arguably the most dangerous section on his pedestrian journey home because there are no railings between the path and the water. So my theories are:

1. He has taken the ring road up on to Brunel way by foot, but has fallen into the Avon Gorge (River Avon) from the bridge. This river is very tidal and could have transported him either upstream or downstream considerably, depending on the tide at that time.

2. He has decided its too far to walk home and decided to return to the house the party was at, falling in the water around the Cumberland Basin. This is unlikely because I'm sure Police checked cctv and would see him heading back in that direction.

3. He has continued to walk along the Brunel way until he is offered a lift by someone who spotted he was vulnerable and desperate and took advantage of the situation.

Do we know the tide level at the time he went missing?

I tried to find something about the tide times but I'm completely useless at it, I think this might help?
