From the official FB page for Jack, it says there are no organised searches at the moment as they just finished doing the specialist searches. But ‘We’re hoping to be able to talk about the next phase soon’.

And so they should provide the phone records when a missing person case is still active... especially as she pays the bill
I mentioned in another thread that just like with Facebook’s “Legacy” option, someone with a phone number/account should be able to designate someone that can access their phone records, messages, texts, search history, location, etc if there is a documented disappearance (i.e. Police Report) or death (Police Report, Hospital Record, Death Certificate, etc). This could potentially significantly reduce the time delay in obtaining evidence that could lead to the rescue/recovery of a victim.

IMO this sort of thing would cause a lot more problems than it would solve.
What about someone intentionally missing? Escaping an abusive relationship, for example.
What about the situation where the designated person was criminally involved in the disappearance? A copy of all the same phone data which the police have could be very useful for covering up the crime and making life much harder for the police.

This is why I love this site - I'd not have seen it from your perspective above myself! It's so interesting to see other opinions

I have just realised that if he was walking up this way heading back to the house party area or his brothers this little laneway would be an almost irresistible spot to relieve himself ????!!! And from the last cctv (unconfirmed) sighting on Bennett way arriving here around 3.50/4 am would make it nearly an hour since he last (possibly) last relieved himself (those few minutes near the underpass where he was stationary for a few minutes it’s thought he may have gone to the toilet..)

Jack seems like the type that would not just go to the toilet anywhere … and walking up and past this laneway it would have been an almost too perfect place to go the toilet
…did he walk into it to relieve himself and encounter someone? or possibly got disoriented and walked through (back down to the banks)…?
The lane way is very very concealed… I doubt there is any cctv and a few flats/houses have entrances directly from it..I wonder what working hours the residents nearby have.. any early risers around 4/5am in the morning leaving or coming home from work…?

He may have collapsed/ sat down in the alleyway ? Someone may have picked up his phone there..he may have been sent a video message from the party or someone else and watched it there… this would have been the coldest time of the night as well so he may have been overcome with cold/ alcohol/ tiredness and very easily persuaded inside a car or house.

The granby hill road (where the substation is) bends around and seems to go back around to the house party ..ie where jack started from..it makes sense that after he got the call back from the girl he decided (in a milder state of mind) to head back either there or to his brothers house..

It would be (not impossible) but very coincidental that a thief/opportunistic robber would head in this very direction or go to the substation lane way at 4am in the morning with a phone they found/robbed/ ??
…unless by pure coincidence they lived opposite/near it and it’s just a red herring…

It’s seems more likely this was actually the last place he was actually at.

We need to know more about his personality from family & friends ..

Was he careful with money (booking Uber etc)??
Was he easily offended (party)??
Was he attached to personal belongings (chasing robber)??
Would he get in a renegade taxi ??
Would he go inside someone’s house (for a phone call etc)??
Was he confrontational? (Fight)??
Did he get easily overwhelmed???

The parents could be alluding to the terrace houses on the opposite side ? But I wouldn't say these “backed onto the substation”..

It impossible to really gauge unless you had the actual last ping location (I understand this would be unfair to the occupants) so I guess we will never know the exact address..

I’m trying to find the reddit link but I read that the mother was able to replicate the same ping location on her phone when she went there .. and also that they got permission and cut back & searched the substation Grounds.

This makes me think it was very very close to that substation…. Very very coincidental that a robber of a phone just happened to live right next to it??

Or it could have been thrown there by an abductor?

And retrieved later to be disposed of properly..

When foul play or murder is on the cards they don’t usually care about phones..more about getting rid of them..

It’s unlikely a body would be buried around the substation as there was so much activity by the parents so early on..

I mean it’s an abductors/serial killers best asset living near a large body of water …the police will always assume the boys/men have toppled in there…

They need to do a whole lot of experiments with the phone in water and how long it stays on etc…

The person seen in the area also is highly suspicious 5.40am hotwells road … I mean this is a very close time to his last ping??!!!

Could jack have chased a robber to the waters edge?

I’m thinking the phone was with him until at least 4am and possibly longer.. just because he wasn’t seen on cctv doesn’t prove anything.. it makes sense his call cut out when he answered the girl if he was going under the underpass (someone should try to replicate this)…

The area around the substation should be observed (politely & unobtrusively) around the same time on a Sunday morning to see how much traffic/pedestrians are mobile at 4am..

Aerial view of the river end of the lane..

If he did get swept downstream there is a possibility when he got near here the false pings was indicating the address at granby hill…..

One of my families find my location is always always giving the wrong indicator… sometimes it’s right sometimes (when there’s little to no reception) it will give a completely random but precise address (that is definitely wrong)… it’s something about the phone or software I’m not sure..we all have iPhones however this one in particular is always crazy…
if his family have never had wrong indicators before though then this unlikely…

Cath has a right to think the police haven’t done enough imo, she found CCTV that the police had missed of her son. That wouldn’t instil me with confidence that they had done their best.

Pretty despicable behaviour calling the parent of a missing young man ridiculous. Pray to God it’s never you and yours.

The closest houses that back on to the substation would be the group to the right.
Interestingly there is a tiny narrow path all along that substation….
Also interesting that there’s a car park right there. Was someone or Jack in a parked car there using the phone? Or did he use a meet up app for a liaison in this location.

Maybe he was upset and decided to enterrr the substation as a place to just be left alone and away from everyone and used his phone for a bit there....
That's when hypothetically he encountered a homeless person who took his phone and murdered him...
I don't know it's such a strange case I think I will have a day out in Bristol and follow his steps
It's been nearly a year now ....I would say he's dead

Just looking at the Samantha Murphy thread and noticed something interesting..
IMG_9015.jpeg

I previously thought it possible the phone could have sent the wrong location due to its being in the water…I definitely now don't think the phone went anywhere near the water.. it wouldn’t be able to be ‘active on the network’ the calls from jacks mum to the phone would not have rung out.. the what’s app message wouldn’t have been been delivered….

So someone’s taken it from him
or
He is last alive in a location (or car) very near his last pinged location.

The family (especially mother) knows him probably better than anyone and she has always stated that he was probably separated from his phone..

This would explain why
-he didn’t book an Uber/ring for a cab
-he didn’t talk when the girl answered
-he wasn’t pictured on CCTV with what appears to be a phone in his hand
-he went around in circles (relying on memory of the area)

However as much as I’m inclined to trust the mothers gut instinct that he was separated from his phone this dosent explain why;

- the last known location ping is sort of in the direction he was heading as per the cctv
- why a thief would answer the phone call from the girl
- how the thief could access the phone without a PIN number
- why would a thief watch a video or use that amount of data- the first thing they would do is take the SIM out..& turn location off
- why wasn’t the phone ever traced again (the identification number of the phone itself can be detected if its ever turned on again with a different sim (maybe not if it was sent straight to another country tho).

Makes no sense whatsoever…

The phone activity makes me think he walked up Granby hill, took a leak in the alleyway.. met someone or recognised someone or somehow or another went into a property in that area near the substation, watched a video and literally crashed asleep..(hence missing the calls from his mother)…I mean he would have been exhausted..
He may have been drugged once inside the house (it’s not unheard of) …

I hope they can scour every last inch of the area of his last location ping .. it’s possible he was also huddled up somewhere in an out building or the grounds of the substation or nearby carpark.. the concussion getting the Better of him… I just don’t think this is likely as it was so cold.

This changes everything.... Thanks for this information.. so essentially he could have been stabbed and robbed in that alley... That substation seems suspect too but no way would the attacker have time to hide the body there... Certainly got me thinking. I may have to head to that substation and walk about... Get a feel for the place
