UK UK - Jack O'Sullivan, 22, left friends after night out, last seen Brunel Lock Road/Brunel Way, Bristol at 3.15am, 2 Mar 2024

Catherine O'Sullivan, the mother of missing student Jack O'Sullivan, has hit back at online trolls who have accused her of not doing enough to find her son. Jack, 23, disappeared without a trace after last being seen in the early hours of Saturday, March 2, around Brunel Lock Road/Brunel Way in Bristol.

[...]

"I have had messages that read 'Do you really want to find your son as you are not trying that hard'. If these people only knew the lengths we are going to. There is not an hour of a day that I'm not doing my very best to get an answer."

Last month, Catherine successfully fought with EE to gain access to data from her son's missing phone. Following this, the campaign group announced a new search initiative involving metal detectorists looking for his phone and other clues.

It would be interesting to know where she wants these detectorists to search. Urban areas such as wasteland and enclosed spaces such as the enclosure around the electricity substation tend to accumulate a lot of rubbish and detritus of varied materials which would make searching pretty difficult.

The mum of missing student Jack O'Sullivan says she's been told a member of the family's 'Find Jack' Facebook page knows where he is. Catherine O'Sullivan says she has been told the secret to his disappearance lies in their appeal's social media group itself.

Writing on 'Find Jack' in response to a post, mum Catherine says she has been repeatedly told that one of the group knows what happened to him. She wrote: "I get continual messages telling me the person who has the answers as to what has happened to Jack and where he is, is in this group.

"If that is true please come forward and let someone know You can share this information anonymously if you prefer. We are a desperate family and we just need answers. Please help us! The bottom line is 'Someone knows' what has happened to Jack. We ask please just come forward with information that could help us."

Must have been such an awful Christmas for his family. The not knowing must be like an angry sore. It's just such a mystery what happened, but if we knew it probably wouldn't seem such.

A £20,000 reward is available for information that helps find him.

Anyone who wishes to report newly uncovered CCTV footage should contact police by calling 101 and quoting reference 5224055172. The search effort can be contacted at findjack23@gmail.com

"In the week after he went missing,
the police told us:
‘We believe Jack’s fallen into the water,
he’s drowned,
and there’s a chance you’ll never see him again'.
'They told us that in a phone call',
says Catherine."

IMO
It is the most probable scenario.
It was also my opinion from the start.
I would trust Police,
although this truth is unbearable for any family member.
Hope dies last after all.

These messages the family is getting from strangers concerning Jack
are déjà vu of Jay Slater's case IMO.
Some people get sick enjoyment of torturing poor parents with false hopes.

It has been nearly a year since Jack's disappearance :(

Pretty sure he would have washed up in the water by now... I wonder what the reluctance is of them searching these houses where the phone last pinged.. didn't someone above mention his brother lived right by the area..
Sounds like he was robbed while out of it to me... Bristol can be a rough place ... Believe me I know

This is a nightmare for the poor family :(

PS
I have never been to Bristol as I live in another country.
"Bristol" ( brystol in my language) is only known to me as thick and stiff paper used by kids in school ;)

Oh i see what you did there

Police are saying human remains found in Almondsbury which is about 10 miles from Jack. Im not saying it’s jsck but human remains usually means someone missing more long term than something quite recent.
Something worth keeping an eye on for developments.
The M4 is closed in both directions after a body was found on the carriageway between junctions 20 (Almondsbury Interchange) and 21 (Awkley).
Police were called at 6.40pm on Saturday 22 February by several drivers reporting something in the road.
Officers attended and found human remains.
Enquiries are underway to identify the deceased and notify next of kin, while an investigation to establish how the person came to be on the motorway continues.
The road is expected to remain closed into the early hours of Sunday 23 February.
Police are keen to hear from anyone who was travelling along that stretch of the M4 has any relevant information or dashcam footage. If you can help please call 101 and give the reference 5224047292.

"Major motorway closed by police after body is discovered on carriageway.

Two major British motorways have been closed after the discovery of a body.

Both the M4 and the M48 have this evening been shut after police received reports of drivers seeing
'something' in the road at around 6:30pm earlier tonight.

Police attended the scene on the carriageway between Junctions 20 and 21 in Gloucestershire a short time later and found 'human remains'."
