"Major motorway closed by police after body is discovered on carriageway.

Two major British motorways have been closed after the discovery of a body.

Both the M4 and the M48 have this evening been shut after police received reports of drivers seeing
'something' in the road at around 6:30pm earlier tonight.

Police attended the scene on the carriageway between Junctions 20 and 21 in Gloucestershire a short time later and found 'human remains'."

I hope this is not Jack! 😞 Whoever it is, what on earth? Remains on the m/way? Rip human!

In my opinion, there's no way. While a body could be undisturbed in a grassy verge or nature strip for some time, there's no way it could be IN the road for almost a year. This poor person is very recent, and very unlikely to be Jack unless Jack has been living completely invisibly all this time only to die on a motorway.

Highly doubt it is Jack, I think it's likely someone else who passed away on the actual motorway. I can imagine finding jack maybe on the side of a road, but that article alludes to the remains are on the actual m/way. moo

I 100% agree these remains have just arrived in the road or they would have been seen before. Dotta kindly shared the information in this thread as it's a similar location to Jack's area. I thought your reply was a little abrupt btw!

No abruptness intended. I simply laid out my opinion and reasoning.

I still think the body of Jack is in water unfortunately :(
I have never changed my mind since the beginning.

A year tomorrow Jack disappeared.
My thoughts are with Jacks family. I don’t know how they find the strength & courage each day to carry on

I always say living with the ‘unknown’ is worse than finding a body as it doesn’t allow you to grieve.

This is right in the area where Jsck was last seen. Question is if CCTV caught this person entering the river, why did it not catch Jack if Jack entered the water aswell if that’s what happened to Jack.

So did the police ever get round to popping round to that address where his iphone was being used for a chat.... Would have thought they would have nicked someone by now.... Very suspicious

I have used the Find My Friends app for years with my children who are of similar age to Jack. The location can sometimes be slightly off but generally is pretty accurate. I don't know the Bristol area at all but I would trust the app and assume that Jack was heading up Granby Hill and therefore away from the water. This seems to be in the direction of both the party and Jack's brothers house in Clifton. The phone was showing this location until about 06:45 but no calls or text messages were made from around (I think) 4am? I understand that the address at Granby Hill has not been searched? I wonder if the neighbouring addresses and general area have been combed for evidence? It must be so incredibly frustrating for Jacks parents if not. The last location seems to point away from a fall into the water.

Jack's phone has been mentioned considerably in media reports and on the Find Jack facebook page, I find it odd that nothing has been mentioned about his social media apps usage. I am double Jack's age so can't claim to understand how youngsters communicate, however going by my nieces and nephews (aged 17 to 25) most of theirs seems to revolve around snapchat/tiktok/instagram etc. especially on a night out. From what I have read, nothing has been mentioned about Jack sending/receiving anything via these apps. Also was Jack in a relationship or single? Any dating apps he was active on? Could he have arranged a last minute meet up that went wrong?
All just my musings and thoughts about this puzzling case, and of course thinking of Jack's loved ones.
His mother mentioned that he was going to run another half marathon in memory of his very dear friend, Adam. Maybe the police suspect suicide if indeed Adams death did affect Jack so much?

They may have, or they maybe trying to find out where the phone is now.

Yes Jack ran a half marathon in memory of his University friend Adam Smethurst, who was a great friend, run by the Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM) a movement against suicide.
