Unless bodies are recovered from the water within a few days, then that information may not be available. Moving bodies of water often lead to loss of clothes and tissue.
That would depend on the body of water, I suspect. The river and canal system in and around Bristol is no longer used for navigation other than a few pleasure craft and there's little activity to stir up a body there or places for one to get caught up. Marine shipping docks at Avonmouth and Portishead so doesn't enter the city. The Avon is tidal up to the locks Jack was seen walking around but the flow isn't fast, and the river has been known to flood during and after heavy rain.

There has been an article about Jack (and other disappearances in general) on today's BBC Breakfast (Saturday 07 Mar 2026 at around 0820 - 0825 hours). I have a feeling that this will only be available for 24 hours on BBC iPlayer.

I wonder what the river bed is like and if there are thick branches or any sort of undergrowth that would cause an issue like this. Even though I obviously lean towards him falling in the water, I can’t actually believe they never found any clothing or anything. Surely the clothing would hold up for a long time? Unless that is stuck at the bottom of the river too. I can’t comprehend how awful this must be for his parents to just have nothing. The endless possibilities must haunt them :(

It's just mud banks and a muddy bottom. This is what it looks like downstream of the area Jack was walking around and at low tide.

Lengthy article dated 28 Feb 2026.

Could someone briefly paraphrase what his mother said in this article, please? I was able to read some but then a paywall came up.

I feel for his family and hope they have answers soon.

that said, it does happen occasionally but it's very, very rare.

Falling in accidentally after a night out drinking isn't rare, though. The exact reason the person is drawn toward the water probably varies.
IMO the reason doesn't matter so much. It's a real tragedy that happens; every year we see cases here.

Looking at the map, where he was walking, there is literally water everywhere.

I don’t think there is any big mystery here at all

I also think it's likely what happened, but I wish his family could know for sure either way.
