"A manhunt is under way after an award-winning film director was found murdered in her home near Regent’s Park.
Jennifer Abbott, 69, was discovered in Mornington Place in Camden at 6pm on Friday. Neighbours claimed she was found wrapped in a blanket with tape over her mouth.

Police believe she may have been targeted for her diamond encrusted Rolex watch.

Ms Abbott walked her Corgi dog on most days near the address a short distance from London Zoo. She had been popular in the enclave where homes sell for over £10 million.
Metropolitan Police officers were called by the London Ambulance Service who attended and sadly pronounced her dead at the scene.
They suspect a luxury timepiece may be missing from her address. The killer is still at large."

Blimey a 66 year old woman suspect and a 69 year old woman victim. This case is very unusual. I wonder if police tracked the Rolex.

I have a feeling this is far from a simple 'robbery' . Once they managed to cover her mouth and contain the dog to 'ransack the house', why bother to stab her? Doesn't the stabbing feel personal?

Families living on the London estate where an award-winning film director was 'murdered for her Rolex' claim they are too scared to go out after it became a hub for drug dealers.
On Thursday afternoon, the Metropolitan Police arrested a woman, 66, over Ms Abbott's murder. It is thought that her diamond-encrusted Rolex may be missing from her address.

The director, who counted Paris Hilton, Kate Hudson and Dan Ackroyd among her A-lister friends, moved to the capital after 'losing everything' from her life as a 'movie star'.

And residents of the Mornington Place estate where she lived have now told MailOnline that the neighbourhood is dominated by crime, leaving people 'frightened'.

Jean Moorcroft Wilson, 83, moved there with her publisher husband in 1979 when there was a friendly community in the area.

She explained that cutting it off from the main road had encouraged drug dealing.

The watch is missing so theft could be the motive.

Definitely. I'd be interested to know how this all came about though and if/how they knew each other etc. Very odd for a woman to commit a crime like this, let alone one of her age.

So would I. I would be very surprised if Nancy Pexton was unknown to Jennifer.

A FB search on the victim shows a post from 2015 from her mentioning the accused in a social event. I gather they were, at the least, acquaintances.

She repeated her name and date of birth very softly. Asked to confirm her address, she murmured: 'Nowhere, at the moment.'

Her solicitor told the court she had no fixed address.

Deputy District Judge Lee Marklew told her: 'You've seen your advisor this morning. You will be before the crown court on Tuesday next week. You will meet you barrister than and receive more advice over the coming days. You need to bide your time. This is an administrative hearing.'

Earlier, the judge was told that Ms Pexton was 'very vulnerable', and her solicitor asked if she could be allowed to sit down during the hearing.
