Thanks for creating a thread, I was about too. Massive concern for Joanne. The helicopter has been out and Brecon mountain rescue have also been out. Let’s hope Kosnne is found safe soon following.

The helicopters are still out now.

Does anyone know if Joanne walks regularly?
Did she tell anyone where she was going?

What kind of weather have you been having? Is she walking in a cliffy area? My experience with Brecon Beacons is that they're more moor-ish than cliff-y, but what's your assessment. They're not a bluff, yes?

Are you familiar with any of the walking paths in that area? How would you rate the difficulty of the path she went on? Is she an experienced walker? By that I mean someone who has several years under their belt, not someone who has been "hiking" a few times with friends and decides they're an expert.

The weather at the moment is cold and very rainy.
I'm not familiar with the paths myself, although I know some of the surrounding area. It's not cliffy, more forestry. Apparently she walks a lot and knows the area well. I don't know if I should say that without a link. Sorry, I'm new, and still figuring out how this works. The area is not in the Brecon Beacons, it's called Llanwonno. Just outside of the town of Pontypridd.

"She was last seen wearing a backpack at around 9.45am on Monday, October 21, in Vale Gardens, Pontypridd. It is believed she was heading to Graigwen Road in the direction of Llanwonno Forest."
From an article linked above. She was last seen in Graigwen, which is on the outskirts of town, heading towards the Forest.

Unfortunately, Joanne's clothing (dark green coat, black rucksack, leggings) is likely to reduce the chances of her being spotted, especially from the air and especially in Llanwonno Forest. The forest covers a large area, but there doesn't seem to be any evidence that she actually reached it. Comments on the South Wales Police's first Facebook appeal suggest that Joanne is "always walking" and is familiar with the area. There is no mention of whether Joanne has a mobile phone with her.

Still no news, and it seems very little information.

South Wales Police/Rhondda Cynon Taf just updated their Facebook page. Essentially, no substantive updates and no sightings after she was spotted in Graigwen Road. Have opened up searching to the public provided they don't go out alone, tell someone where they're going etc etc.
State they are 'keeping an open mind about what has happened to Joanne'

I've been all over Wales. Let me look it up.
Oh, that's the one area of Wales I'm not at all familiar with!

Those don't look like walking boots at all, in the photo in that article. No laces, sloppy ankle, and a spongy sole. They look like town boots. Very easy to twist an ankle or slip. But they're saying they're walking boots. You'd need a robust, lugged, sole in this weather, and support.

I wonder what evidence they have that she was actually hiking.

I'm confused. LLanwonno Woods (and the Rugby Club) look to be miles away from Vale Gardens. LLanwonno Woods are in LLanwonno?

Video of LLanwonno Woods

Source: this appears to be a town government (Council) video, but I don't understand Welsh.

Weird that folks are calling her a "young woman". And she didn't have her dog with her? I find this whole thing very strange.
