I think the jury reached the same conclusion that I had; I could see the other sides to it in the discussions on this thread though. Nobody's won here; I hope they don't end up with really long sentences as a result, as I don't think it was necessarily malicious, just very neglectful. They'd have been better off admitting to a lesser charge and using mental difficulties for mitigation instead of bringing it to court and exposing all the inconsistencies in the whole story (I hesitate to say "lies", although not all that was told could possibly be the truth... but I can see it's very possible for Dawn at least to be like myself when it comes to answering accurately under pressure).
No winners in this, no matter the result it was a very sad story, and although I think this probably is the right result, they come across as so troubled that I doubt much good will come of it except perhaps getting the whole family much higher on social services' radar to hopefully prevent any repeat in the future.
