Was the Facebook link different to the uni one, Ched? If so, any chance you could message it to me on here?
Log In or Sign Up to View it’s worth reading again as it’s been up a while on Facebook now so quite a few comments which we don’t discuss on here

@CoverMeCagney can you help here at all ? Another student x

I've read over it a couple of times, it's a tough one because there's really nothing to go on. We don't know when she disappeared, or where. Seems the police don't know either.

Do we have any info on the man who was arrested, is it a partner? Has he been named?

Police say they have no new leads in search for student Joy Morgan

Police searching for the missing Hertfordshire University student Joy Morgan have no new leads and are continuing to appeal for information from the public. The 21-year-old is feared to have come to harm after she was last seen on Boxing Day.

Morgan, from Hatfield, Hertfordshire, was last seen at a church celebration in Ilford, east London, on 26 December. She was then going to stay with an associate in Cricklewood, north-west London, but it is not known where she went the next day.

She contacted friends on her midwifery course over WhatsApp about coursework on 27 December, the last time she has been heard from, and was reported missing on 7 February.

Hertfordshire police are treating the disappearance as suspicious. Morgan’s bank cards and mobile phone have not been used since she disappeared, while the passing of her 21st birthday on 13 February without any contact from her has further fuelled concern.

“Joy is described as a focused and determined student,” DCS Karena Thomas said on Monday. “She is also an active member of the Hainault Street church in Ilford, which Joy herself has described as a community that feels like her family.

“Her disappearance is completely out of character and all avenues we have explored to establish her whereabouts so far have come back negative.

“Joy has been missing for over a month and we, along with her family, are growing increasingly concerned for her safety.”

She added: “We are remaining really open minded about how and why Joy may have gone missing. She may have opted to take time out and if that is the case I would urge her to make contact with us. We just want to know that she is safe and well.”

In an appeal for her safe return, Morgan’s family issued a statement saying: “We love you, we miss you. It doesn’t matter what has happened, just come home.”

Police have also released a picture of a red Honda with a distinctive black roof and bonnet that Morgan regularly travels in. The owner of the vehicle, which is believed to be linked to Morgan’s disappearance, has been interviewed.

Searches have been conducted in the Hooks Cross area and the A602 area in Stevenage. Morgan has links to Cricklewood, Stevenage, Bedfordshire and Battersea, south-west London.

A 40-year-old man from London questioned on suspicion of murder was recently bailed pending further inquiries.

I had a look at her uni's term dates (Term and semester dates) and have some ideas about why she was reported missing so late.

It looks like 1st semester exams happen on one week in January and 2nd semester teaching begins two weeks later. If she had no exams and only submitted coursework (assuming she did submit it), it could explain why she was reported missing halfway through Week 3. I imagine the uni might want to check up on her if she's missed over one week of classes without reporting her absence, and if you then account for time to contact her emergency contact etc it might not be until Week 3 of teaching (beginning 4th Feb) that she's reported missing.

If she was supposed to turn up for exams though, I don't know if it would take so long to report her missing? Missing exams is pretty big and I hope the university would follow up quickly if she made no contact and also didn't turn up for classes in week 1.

Another possibility is that she took a leave of absence? Usually this would be at least a semester and you would need to provide a good reason for the university to accept this (i.e. illness, family problems). That could possibly explain why the alarm wasn't raised as she wasn't expected to be there, and could also explain why they think she may have 'taken time out'?

Mother's plea for news of daughter who went missing after attending fringe church service

The mother of a loving and dedicated midwifery student who went missing after attending a church service has made a moving appeal for information about her daughter’s whereabouts.

Joy Morgan, 21, a student at the University of Hertfordshire, disappeared after attending a service of the Israelite Church of God in Jesus Christ, a small black sect with its origins in the United States.

No trace of her has been seen since and detectives are "growing increasingly concerned for her safety" and fear she may “have come to harm”.

Joy was last seen at a service held by the Israelite Church of God on Boxing Day in Ilford, east London.

Police said her phone was active until the next day and her bank card...

Thanks, I read the date wrong for when she was reported missing so thought it was three weeks after teaching not two.

It would still be interesting to know whether she had exams or coursework due and whether she did them.

It's at best very very sad that none of her family, friends, church (or housemates if she had them) hadn't noticed that she hadn't made contact in over a month.

Very sad, isn't it?

I don't post on here too much. Lurk occasionally and i really don't want to post anything i shouldn't.

I will say this though...

Joy was clearly very involved in her Church, Israel United in Christ, London (IUIC London), as per what i can see on her facebook profile page and the reports.

Actually, this Church she was last seen at, imo, is what i would call a cult.

This may also explain Joy's lack of contact with her family as not being so unusual for them to be alarmed as they are not part of the Church/cult.

Are we really to believe the lack of Joy's presence was not noticed within her Church group?

Or was it noticed and for whatever reason was not reported?

There is chatter/videos on social media. Again, i'm not sure if i can post links or not due to the allegations made, but you're all more far 'advanced' at this than i am and so will probably find what I am referring to.

So if I get this right, the car was providing lifts for her? so someone was picking her up from school.
I hope she is found. This must be heartbreaking for the family.
