I got this link from a UK govt site.
I'm unsure whether it's still current.
Can anybody confirm current status regarding length of time a suspect can be held without charges under UK law if this is outdated, please?
Being arrested: your rights.

Police would not confirm the source of the image but it appears to have come from dashcam footage as the man is standing on the grassy verge of the road and looking over his shoulder, as if at a passing vehicle.

I am not adding the link here because his photo is still in the article

This says
Ordinarily, the maximum that a suspect can be held without charge is 24 hours. However, this can be extended by a senior police officer by a further 12 hours. If the police need further time for questioning, they must apply to the magistrates for that further time, up to a total of 96 hours. This will usually only happen in the most serious or complex of investigations. If it is not serious, then the police will not normally be able to justify why the investigation cannot be carried out with the suspect on bail. If is not complex then the police will not normally be able to justify why they haven’t completed the investigations sooner. There are different rules that apply for terrorism cases, where up to 14 days detention for questioning is permitted, but again those cases are rarer still.

So, the 36 hours would have expired at 9.30, this morning, that's approx 2 hrs ad 40 minutes ago..
In Ireland it would be published if a further extension had been requested. Not sure about UK.

Not sure if it is just the angle the picture has been taken, but it looks as though the car is no longer parked in the drive.

I am imagining a lot of 'no comment ' answers.
Deffo.
America is a dream in comparison.
By now, or within an hour of his photo being circulated, if it was him, not sure yet, we would know everything there is to know about him and all his relatives.
That's why I hate UK cases.
Ireland is even worse, no point at all even trying to look at a case here until after the trial is done.

There will be silence until 9.30pm GMT tomorrow Monday night.. they'll probably run it to the wire but they can still get a further extension of 12 hrs..
It's possible they don't believe they need it at mo..
I imagine he's not too forthcoming, whoever he is.
He managed to run for so long without a trace one would think he might be tired or something..

Could be possible he didn't do it too of course. Wonder what sort of evidence they have and is the extension and indication that they may not have much and are trying to "break" him?

Aylesham - Civil Contingencies Unit facebook page is quite helpful to check what is happening in the road as lots of disgruntled neighbours.

The extension is almost par for the course and I was expecting it.

I do hope they have forensic evidence. If the press reports are correct they are still looking for a weapon .

I don't think that's a good thing though. He hasn't even been charged yet

That is always a possibility, even more so seeing as that nobody has confirmed the one in custody is the one that has now been arrested.
Photo fellow could still be a local drone operator who handed them the evidence they needed to arrest somebody else.
It's possible.
I wouldn't even begin to dream to imagine what they're saying to get the answers they need.
We will never know that.
He's been in for 40 hours, questioning wouldn't have started immediately, he's entitled to rest breaks, meal breaks etc.. not really such a long time yet..

I was talking about it from a sleuthing perspective.

They never said he was a suspect though, so making a statement like that is just going to get messy.

They posted : "Please remember we have not said this person is a suspect, they are an individual who could have key information that can help us."

I suspect he is the person they have arrested. JMO
It's a bit odd to arrest someone when they are not

I guess he used the Nike holdall to carry a drone and keep it flat. Otherwise he would use a ruckrack to carry his things.

Drones come with cases and carry bags. Nobody with a decent drone would transport it in a sports holdall.
