If any of you have been posting on the Stephanie Scott thread this will resonate, her body was set on fire by the POI in that case

Yes, I wondered (if these reports are true) if the suspect had been following that case, or had read about Stephanie in the media.

Clothing and another item, linked to the missing student, were found outside the main search area around Pacteau’s home. They are currently undergoing DNA tests.

One particular discovery was made by a member of the public and is believed to be of huge importance in the investigation.

A source said: “It could lead to a breakthrough in the inquiry.”

I'm guessing the other item is probably her phone, I can't think what else it could be. It's odd that clothing would be found separate from a body, to me that suggests that something must have happened in the flat whilst she was naked, he picked up everything in a panic and disposed of things in separate locations.

I wish we knew exactly what, if any, CCTV footage exists of the surroundings of AP's flat. The fact that they haven't said he was a suspect until late today makes me think there can't be anything usable

I think I recognise your name from over there, it certainly would be either a very bizarre coincidence or maybe he had read something. I wonder if her death has had much coverage in Scotland

Sounds like they maybe found a weapon? My theory's gone out of the window - looks like she did go to his home. Maybe he persuaded her he had cigarettes there or something?

Maybe he said he was giving her a lift home to trick her into the car.

So they haven't found a body now? I wish the tabloids wouldn't do that.

Ive seen posts on twitter saying the same, sadly I think it's probably true, it's impossible to keep anything quiet nowadays. local bystanders can tell the whole world in a fraction of a second however hard the police try to deny it

I am in Scotland and heard nothing about this case on the news!

Poor girl, I just looked up the story, what a waste of life!

BBM - not necessarily, I think the article is very badly worded "outside the main search area around Pacteau’s home" isn't totally clear. I think what it means is that the items weren't anywhere near his flat, if you read it quickly it could seem like it means the opposite, that they were around the house.

I've seen them too, giving a time and a very specific area, connected to the suspect. I just hope her family didn't find out that way, if true.

Only her items were 'around his home' surely a criminal disposes of the victim and then her stuff? Maybe she was forced there?

I feel like she wouldn't have left her coat if she thought she was permanently going home. My thoughts are that they were nipping out for something so didn't bother telling her friends or grabbing her coat as she thought she'd be back within 20 mins or so?

Sounds like they have been found at the farm and the golf course. That's how I'm reading it. Hence those 2 places being cordoned off and searched today. They are both 'outside the main search area' around AP's home.

Clothing and possibly a weapon, maybe a knife. MOO

The fundraising page to raise money for Karen's family's expenses at this awful time, has reached its target within a few hours.

A nice reminder that there is far more good in the world, than evil.

Not sure if fundraising pages can be linked, so if anyone is interested its called "Help find Karen" on the fundraising site that starts with GO.

Or maybe she was trying to 'shake him off' if he'd been bothering her in the club. Perhaps she was pretending to go home and started walking away, and was intending on going back into the club once he had gone, but he cornered her?

I posted back earlier in the thread that one of the reports I read said she had lent her jacket to one of her friends. If that report was true, maybe she always intended to leave without her coat that night. The plan may have been for the friend to wear it home and then return it the next day.

Jmo but I think she did go with him for some reason and then he may have attacked her. Or maybe she changed her mind and he did not listen to "no." Again, jmo. He could not accept a charge of rape after his other issues.

Hi all, I've never posted on this forum before but been an avid reader for a while.

There is a thread regarding this case on an Irish forum that I also follow. That thread contains information received from Karen's housemates that will shed light on some of the issues being discussed here. I don't know if I can post this information as obviously it's hearsay and I don't want to break any rules. Could someone let me know what the protocol is on Websleuths for situations like this?

Aside from that I agree with many posting here who have a bad feeling about this case. I'm a 24 year old Irish girl who's been vulnerable on nights out and I have been very lucky to not have harm come to me. I can't stop thinking about Karen and she is in my prayers as I head to bed tonight.
